So much on my "To do" list today. I had a whole chicken I needed to cook and since it is a warm Autumn Day (80's) I thought throwing the bird in the crock pot sounded yummy. So I used PAM on the inside of pot, rubbed the inside of the cavity with some garlic and placed a sliced onion in it. Then I placed the chicken, breast-side up; sprayed her with some pan. Sprinkled the skin with paprika, more garlic, salt and pepper and some Italian seasonings. Cooked on high for an hour and then down to low.
This is the first time I have cooked a whole chicken in the crock pot. I'm hoping it will be moist and flavorful.
I love my crock pot and It smells absolutely delicious.
UPDATE: The chicken was so moist, it wouldn't stay on the bones so we had a chicken noodle stew instead. I threw in what I had on hand - carrots, onions, spinach, mushrooms, seasonings and it turned out pretty good. I have 2 grown sons living with us now - so a whole chicken does not feed my family of 4 grown adults. This is a good way to stretch it and have leftovers for my husband to take to work for his lunch and for a few days.
