Wasting food, Cleaning and organizing cupboards

How disappointing when you cook all day - making something you've made many times - and for some reason you blow it. Even good cooks can blow it so I shouldn't get down on myself but still - very disappointing. Not to mention, I ended up throwing it out due to the tiny bones from the ham hocks in the beans. I was afraid someone would break a tooth or choke. Thank God I always serve fried potatoes and cornbread. Plus the ham hock was more fatty than meaty.  I hate wasting food. Usually I will send some to work with my husband, who like "Mikey" will eat anything. EXCEPT pork. So I made his beans, vegetarian style -

With the onset of holiday cooking and baking coming up, I took advantage of another day home from work, to clean my pantry cupboard. Threw some expired things out - took a mental inventory of what I have. Today I plan to clean and organize my baking cupboard and spice cupboard. And clean out the refrigerator. NEXT it might be a good idea to clean the oven soon.

I didn't work at all this week which has it's pros and cons. It was nice to be home, while I am not feeling so great myself ( laryngitis and scratchy throat) but then I don't get paid. The family I nanny for, are all sick. Each day, someone else would get sick. So I have agreed to work the next 3 weeks, all 5 days. Ugh! I need the money!
