Hard to diet when you're using food banks



Lets face it, potatoes, noodles, pasta, rice and bread are stretchers and make a small meal fatter! And I mean that literally.  Unfortunately so many who are under-employed or laid off and have to watch the food budget, have to fill up on these goodies. It doesn't matter if the potatoes are organic, or the bread is gluten-free or the pasta and rice are whole wheat (which is the better choice) it's all fattening if eaten too much.

I tend to have problems with carbohydrates in that it makes me fat in my belly. Gaining weight in the belly and mid-drift, and many researchers have said that could indicate a predisposition toward diabetes or heart disease.

It just so happens that right now I am on a low carbohydrate diet. I just had to do something to jar that fat storage of mine.  It seems no amount of walking or working out, which I do a lot of now - is making me lose those unwanted pounds. Oh and unwanted are they!  I have some summer tops that I can't get into and its either I lose or I'm going to toss them, once and for all.  Of course I am the only one with this problem. The rest of my crew are skinny and have no issue so I get to cook yummy delicious meals for them, while I eat rabbit food and cardboard  healthy food.


I eat healthy enough - I just need to make better choices.

  1. I look forward to your healthy, rabbit-food/cardboard,(lol) recipes. I need to lose #'s, and a lot too.
    Do you have any ideas for meals for elderly. I am having issues for ideas for elderly meals. I am now a full time caregiver for my parents and I am running out of ideas for meals or ideas. I am brain dead on this meal prep.

    1. I'll see what I can come up with - I have a lot of recipes from Weight Watchers and Curves Complete.

      Last night I was dreaming of.....noodles! Luscious, buttery noodles.
