Update - We are packed and ready to go

I’m posting from my cell phone. We’ve packed the desktop because it has everything I would need if the house burns or we are away for awhile.

It was very scary today - with my cell, the husband’s cell and his work phone cell - emergency alerts coming in every 5 minutes with updates. The evacuation center was evacuated- 2.6 miles from us. That was a bit unsettling.

Right now it is 7:17 pm. From what I can tell the southwest end of the fire is moving toward Shasta Lake City. We are southeast. The winds seem to be pushing it toward the Dam. There is a lot of air activity - they only have till sundown.

It will be a long sleepless night. I encouraged the husband to go to work - he’s 2 miles away. He can just leave if we have to load up the vehicles. Everything is ready to go. I plan on not going to bed until he gets home. We might sleep in shifts.

It’s the wind. This morning was terrible. I just received a text alert saying the fire is now at 5500 acres - 4000 acres just today. I’m telling you, it was wild today. Only 5% contained.

Main thing is to stay calm and not panic. We’ll go to my son, Navy’s house if we have to leave. Our friend, Richard left this afternoon- got the horses out and the rest of the animals. Him and his wife are at her parents home.

Susie’s ready!

That’s it. I’m calm and the husband says he’s calm but he’s not. That’s why I needed him to just go and I’ll call him if I need him.

  5. I wondered how close this was to you when I heard about it. I pray that this is out quickly and no one loses home or life. I have never had be ready to evacuate but have had friends lose everything in the Camp fire up in Paradise. I don't even know where I would start if that happened to me. Fortunately they have been able to make a new life for themselves in Montana. Sadly for us we don't get to see them like we used to.

  6. I did not know this. I will pray for you, hubs and the two fur babies. My cats are a bit feral. It would be a challenge to convince them to go into kennels. My emergency plans is to load cages on a trailer to haul the crew if we ever have to flee. But thankfully, we probably would not have to do that. I hope you don't have to do that either.

  7. Oh my gosh, when will these fires end? The one you mentioned is not too far
away from me. I'm extremely thankful for the firefighters. Stay safe, Debby.
