Covid Test Negative, Slow Boat from China and goodbye CHICKEN

Covid Test: Negative

This morning I made the husband get a covid test -  He's been coughing and sneezing and has a runny nose. I hate to be selfish - but I wasn't concerned about him - it seems like just a cold. I was more concerned about my surgery being canceled. I guess people still get colds...anyway, the VA just called and he's negative!

Rain

It is a 53-degree day and it's been drizzling rain all day. You can't imagine how excited I am about this kind of weather. Already my backyard hill is looking greener.

Stockpiling and Christmas

Yesterday I reorganized my pantry and I have been stockpiling some food in my craft room. I had to organize that as well. I ordered my first Christmas gift - It will be small this year. Honestly, nobody NEEDS anything. We're blessed and so I don't feel compelled to get stressed out about finding the perfect gift. We're all alive and healthy this year. That's the perfect gift we have for each other.

Slow boat from China

I did do a dumb thing - I guess it was Sept - I ordered 2 new lamps for my living room. They were on sale.  I ordered these new lamps off the internet. They had them at Home Depot but they were $30 more so I went with another company.

Ordered them - paid for them. After a while I realized they should be here - so I went and checked, and they are literally traveling from a slow boat from China. NO communication. I'll probably get them - EVENTUALLY but it will be a couple of months I bet. That's when I know I am not the sharpest crayon in the box anymore - I used to be careful of this and this time, it never occurred to me. Duh!

Bye Bye Chicken

Cooked the chicken in the crockpot all day yesterday - It smelled all right but my son, Foodie who is a dietitian told me with chicken sometimes the taste isn't affected. He urged me to throw the chicken out - so we did. All of it. $30 worth of chicken which makes me sick. When in doubt, throw it out. I know that! I say that all the time but it was $30!!! and I was thinking about the money wasted more than anything. Thank God for a good son who reminded me of what I have always said.

    1. ON the website after I ordered they said it would ship after 6 days - I haven't heard anything yet. It might be sitting in Long Beach Harbor for all I know.

  2. Glad to hear your husbands test came back negative.
    Love the pitcher of flowers.
Sounds like good advice to throw away that chicken. Better to be safe than sorry.

  3. Negative Covid test sounds great. Best wishes for your surgery. I will be saying a prayer for you.

I love the smell of rain.

We don't exchange presents at Christmas time. We do give children gifts. The first time we did it. I was disappointed. Then on Christmas, we had a wonderful time just visiting with one another. It is also a relief not to have to do all that shopping.

I love the pitcher and flowers. You have a flair for decorating.

    1. I love the smell of a new rain too. With months of smoke I had forgotten how sweet, fresh air smells like.

  4. It's still raining here. Three days ... on and off. And it's getting cold too.

    God bless.

  5. That's crazy that they didn't give you a delivery date for the lamps, even though they were probably going to take months to arrive. Presumably they didn't tell you because if you knew it would take so long you might have cancelled the order!

    1. BINGO! It's coming from China (which I didn't know or I wouldn't have ordered it) so maybe there is a language barrier...I don't know.

  6. Glad to hear about the negative test. Maybe Hubby has allergies. I know mine have been in an uproar 'cause the Ragweed is in bloom. "Achoo!" lol
Speaking of unsharpen crayons, like me, I decided to up our minutes on the cell phones yesterday 'cause I've been using so many. Well, I did just that, now I'm unhappy 'cause I don't like going from spending $88 a month for two phones to $166! Ouch. I wish I'd left it alone now. Guess I'm stuck with that.
I was wondering about the chicken. Yeah, you don't want food poisoning. That's nasty stuff. That does kill people and is far more deadly than a coronavirus (I've had both).
Can't wait for you to get these surgeries done so you can feel better! Prayers for a speedy recovery.
    Blessings. xx

    1. IT is for me too. But it's better than being carried out in a body bag!

  8. So glad to hear your husband does not have the virus. That's too bad you had to
throw the chicken out. Meat is so expensive at the store. I wish it was a little
more affordable, but I guess it depends on where we shop at. I know what you
mean about Christmas gifts. I'm not buying too many this year either. All my
    family has everything they need.

Have a good Halloween week, Debby. I'm still wondering if they get any
trick-or-treaters up here in the mountains? I guess we'll see.
