Waterfront homes

Yesterday afternoon, we took Laydee to the Sacramento river to swim.

The day before, at her weight check-in, we learned she had lost 6 lbs in 2 months! She went from 71 pounds to a svelt 65. No more limping around with a bad hip and leg. She is more vital than ever - at 7 years old! Her coat is so black she is blue and she feels like velvet.

Here she is going to her floatie.

While there I walked around and looked at all the beautiful river-front homes.

Priced at 1.4 million and over - I won't be living there for sure.

I've always dreamed of living at the water's edge - an ocean, a river, a babbling creek, or a lake.

There was this beach house on my hometown beach where all of us teens would hang out - the dad was a big-time surfer and he had this big wooden deck - I would sit there and think, "wow this is the life."

I grew up 2 miles from the beach - an easy walk when you're young.
Too far to hear the ocean but at night when it was foggy, I'd lay in bed comforted by the sound of fog horns.

When we'd go back to Tennessee to visit the grandparents, every 2 years, we always drove up to Ohio and Indiana where some of my dad's brothers and sisters relocated. My aunt had a lakefront home in Indiana - on Sylvan Lake.

We always went water skiing, when there.

I did notice it is more humid by the river and there are more bugs.

An hour or so after we came home, I found a big black bug getting comfortable in my hair -

There were many out fishing - A beautiful 93 degrees.

Ah, Laydee decided to come on in - she's had enough exercise for the day.

Time to go -

We went to dinner at Navy's house to have a joint birthday celebration for both him and his mother-in-law. I didn't have time to get photos together of Michael and plan to do this as a Christmas gift to both sons.

Navy's birthday is Sunday but he'll be at work and then we're going out for dinner with some new friends that we recently met. Normally I would have passed since it was my kid's birthday but I didn't this time and he was fine with it since he was working anyway.

  3. Dearest Debby,
No, would not want to live near any water body—the dampness, mosquitoes and at times danger for flooding is not attractive.
But good for Laydee for having lost those 6 pounds and no longer limping! Continue with that and she might even tone up more.
The video shows it is indeed very dry.
    Hugs,

  4. So glad Laydee is doing so well! Goes to show you how beneficial healthy diet and exercise can be! Beautiful houses and beautiful area! I would love to live on some body of water! The closest I've ever come is one of the houses we used to live in had a front yard that flooded every time it rained!

  5. Beautiful homes along with water. If I didn't live in the woods my next choice would be on a lake (That didn't have a lot of houses on it).

  6. Good for Laydee!
I love a view of water, be it river or lake, but my budget does not agree! So we live in woods instead.

  7. Good work Laydee! I'm sure swimming is the best exercise for her too, as it is easier on the joints.
I would love to live within walking distance of the water. Not going to happen but I can always dream.

    1. Same here - it isn't going to happen unless we won the lottery that we never play.

  8. Gorgeous homes, and at the cost I am with you on not being able to live there. Many a time I wish we would have bought lakeside property here years ago when it was actually inexpensive.

Laydee is doing very well. She is improving with age.

    God bless.
