Busy weekend, and Fish attack

Pretty flowers at the park

Busy weekend and I am still pooped!

Pow Wow on Friday night.

taken last year - Main drag in Weaverville.

Saturday we drove over to Weaverville for an Octoberfest event at their local microbrewery. (Trinity County Brewing Company

That didn't start until 6pm. We arrived way too early. There was a Harvest Festival in their local park which we enjoyed. Took in a couple of art shows -

It was still too early.

We walked up the main street and down the main street.

Joss House - taken in 2021

Tried to get into the Chinese Temple (Joss House) which is a state park but it is still closed - due to Covid restrictions. I think they don't have any employees because we went to a state museum recently and that was open.

We decided to go to the Brewery and have a beer. Well, I didn't. I don't like IPAs and microbrews. My son Foodie had a beer and so did my husband. It was 3:30.

They sipped their beers slowly. - the Musicians were setting up but

We were still too early.

This small town starts rolling in the sidewalks around 4-5pm on the main street.

So we decided, to just call it quits and drive home.

We did take a detour and drove over to Lewiston Lake -

Talked to some guys who were fishing. I took some beautiful photos of the lake in the late afternoon that will be in my post for Wordless Wednesday.

Next time, we'll make sure we aren't there too early. No biggie for me, I could have cared less either way. It was just something different to do.

I stayed home from church on Sunday to cram for my bible study which was today.

It was nice that Foodie agreed to come with us.  Navy came over to the house to take Laydee out for a potty walk - and play.

Oh and some sad news at least for us -

Yesterday morning went out to feed the fish in the pond, and the lily pads were all torn up and the foliage around the pond, and every one of our fish; big and the babies are gone.

We are within walking distance of a bird sanctuary and at times we have had these white herons standing in our little pond - which is downright silly because they have water sources there at the Lema Ranch.

A neighbor said it was either that or a mountain lion.

I'm thinking it is the Heron or Egret.

The bigger fish we had for 7-8 years. The babies just in a year. There were like 30 of them.

RIP little fish - we loved you and enjoyed you and tried to keep you safe.

  1. Dearest Debby,
Oh, losing all your fish due to some predator is so SAD.
We have lost our pet gold fishes Guido and Gianni in our pond the very same way...
They always came to be fed when we called out for them—yes, they were pets!
Don't know the meaning of the abbreviation: IPAs...
Love the Black Eyed Susans and isn't that your image for the blog as well?
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  2. Aw, what a shame that the fish were taken. I guess that is the way of nature but it still doesn't seem fair.
I'm a beer drinker and do enjoy an IPA occasionally. And I'm always up for a locally brewed beer - at least as a trial. Some are better than others. Even if you didn't get to enjoy the event, you had a nice time with your family.
