Nativities

Lest I be thought of as a heathen  (smile) I thought I should show some of my many nativities. Totally acknowledging that Jesus is the reason for the season!

The three-dimensional plate I bought at one of those "home parties" in the '90s. They were called Christmas around the World (House of Lloyd)  - and for obvious reasons, they were always in and around Christmas.  The big star at the top has a light on it.

We place them all on one bookcase. I'm showcasing just three -

Another three-dimensional tree and nativity. (I love trees) This was given to me by a friend who has since passed on - She was a Sufi Muslim born and raised in Turkey. She converted to Judaism and years later converted to Christianity.

Sufism, the mystical tradition of Islam, can be found in both the Shiite and Sunni communities.

I like to collect unique nativities - this one is my straw nativity - I've had this for 40 years.

Today was the last day, of this bible study at church.

An interesting study on the 1st and 2nd Kings. I really enjoyed it.

Throughout the study book, they have little perforated note card cut-outs - to place on a mirror or maybe to frame

I'll eventually do something crafty with them -

The leader gave us all these 3-minute devotional books that are so pretty.

My favorite colors.

To keep us busy until we start back in Feb. studying JOY in Philippians.

Sometimes these devotions are so pretty I hate to write in them.

After a few days of cold temps and no sun, today is bright and sunny and 56. I noticed that our Fall trees are just about done showing off and many are dropping their leaves. I like all the leaves in the streets - walking through them.

I was gone from 9am to 2pm. I had another meeting to go to and then had to go to the store - Tuesdays are my busiest day of the week.

That's all I have for today - I hope this finds you all well and enjoying the season.

  1. I love your nativities, especially the one given to you by the friend who has since passed on, but not before she found Jesus as her Savior after being raised as a non-Christian. That is priceless! She is now celebrating Jesus' Birthday from heaven! What joy that must be!!! Beautiful! I enjoyed your post...today we were up to 80, much too warm for December in my book, even if it IS Florida! I don't like sweating in December! LOL. I hope you have a blessed and beautiful rest of your week.

    1. No thanks on 80 degree Decembers. The lower temperatures for us keeps our fire danger low. Everyone here wishes for snow.

That’s the thing, we someone gifts you a Christmas decoration - you think of them when you pull it out of the box. Very special

  3. Dearest Debby,
    You have some incredible nativities!
LOVE that tree nativity the most. Is it made of wood and what are its dimensions?
The three dimensional plate is also very special and so is the straw nativity!
They truly are the reason for the season and the ONLY one.
The name TerKeurst sounds Dutch from origine...

  8. Hello! I love your nativities. I have a nativity collection too, although I haven't put them all out this year. You Bible study sounds great. I have read several books by Lysa Terkeurst and really enjoyed and learned a lot from them. Enjoy the rest of the week.

  10. Your Nativity sets are wonderful. I especially like the first plate. The devotional books are very special, and the blue color is so pleasant and calming to write in. I was drawn to the "fear" quote, and thank you for the gentle reminder. Have to travel soon, and that's never fun for me, so I will trust.
