The Munsters, chicken, and other stuff.

Just a quick photo of the Munsters  Hawthorne Village the husband put up that belonged to my sister. I'm not done yet - He loves the Munsters - I wanted to sell it.  Each little house is anywhere from $25-35 on eBay.

I will take some better photos once I get it the way I want it. The cords drive me crazy.

I'm a little perturbed with the husband. I went to Costco yesterday and bought an OMG-sized package of fresh chicken breasts. This morning, he comes in, holding the package - he had forgotten to put them in the freezer so they say out in the car all night. Fortunately, it was cold in the garage. I think they will be fine - We will know tonight - I placed 2 of them in the crockpot. They smelled fine but poultry can be tricky. I told him if they are all bad, he has to repay me out of his account.
He did feel awful about it - GOOD.

So the husband agrees that we really don't need the gardeners now. However, he made a verbal agreement with them through the end of November which he will honor.

Rain and cold weather are here and in our forecast for the next few days. I am totally loving it. It's like I now can cook food that I don't cook in the summer. Like tonight, chicken and dumplings - later meatloaf.

Sara my daughter-in-law texted me last night, saying she wants to cook Thanksgiving dinner. I'm down with that! The only bad thing is the husband still has to go to work and will not be able to join us. (That's what happens when you have a part-time job when you are retired) I plan to make our own Thanksgiving meal for us on Wednesday before. You can't get all worked up over stuff like that. My mom used to put a lot of pressure on my sister and me for the holidays. She took it as a personal insult and it caused a lot of problems. I don't do that with my kids. I also don't have to be the one to cook every year and now that I have a daughter-in-law, we can switch back and forth. My mom refused to come to my house for the holidays. It was always a given that we were to pack up our babies and drive 4 hours to spend the holidays. My ex-husband worked at SFO and he worked the holidays - Double and Triple time was hard to give up when you have 3 little ones. My folks just refused to understand. I was always in the dog house with my mom.

Next Tuesday is my first cataract surgery on my right eye. I am all set to go and can't wait to be able to have clearer vision again.

That's it for me. I hope you all have a great day and get everything you want to do accomplished.

Halloween

These are the 2 characters that showed up at our house.  The husband bought the candy this year and he didn't buy enough so, after an hour, we were out. There didn't seem to be that much more after we closed up shop.

We kept our distance and sat in the yard and supervised them taking the candy from the bowl.
We had several pieces of candy in sandwich bags. It worked out great.

This photo shows the rocks we added this year. No more wasting water that just runs into the gutters.
I really noticed the savings on my water bill this summer.

This is the first time in my whole adult life, I didn't decorate for Halloween or Fall.
I still have time but I just am not in the mood. I'm tired and right now, it just seems like more work for me now and afterward, when I have to pack it all up again.

Plus with not really knowing what we are going to do for Thanksgiving with my family, why bother?

This year has been so crummy. I want a do-over!
