Not a repellent! What????

Avon's Skin So Soft USES

1.   Removes tree sap
2.   Before long driving vacation, wipe some on your headlights and grill of your car. It makes it easier to remove all those bugs that accumulate.

Wow, that was a lot of uses for SSS.

Now there are some, who view many of the repellant claims as "old wives tales" and since Avon has been around for a LONG time there are a LONG LIST of claims.  I for one, have used it (the original) as a spray for my dog, and on my cat. I have used it on their fur and brushed it in.  While it is not 100% - it did do the trick and I didn't have to use anything harsher for my fur-babies.

Bottom-line - Skin So Soft is a moisturizing skin oil.  Nothing more. It is not registered with the EPA as a repellent.  Of course you can't argue with many who have tried it and swear by it.  Me included!

Avon does have a bug repellent line of products - Avon's Skin So Soft Bug Guard. It is an 8 hour repellent that provides protection from mosquitoes, sand flies, gnats, flies, no-can-seeums, and biting midges. (WTH is that?)

It's DEET-FREE and its active ingredient is Picaridin which is a good substitution for DEET and is effective.

You be the judge of what works best for you and your family.

a biting midge - I just had to look it up.

Have you ever experienced any earth shattering uses for Avon's Skin So Soft that was NOT listed?  I'd like to hear about it.
