Rain, Leaves, Covid and Flu

Autumn is still king, in my yards.

Leaves are everywhere - and it's been raining today.

The pomegranate tree sure puts on a Fall show - and the fallen leaves prove it.

It hasn't been a big rain storm - just an all-around wet day - misty

Every little bit of rain helps.

It's BACK!

Last night, Navy texted me to let me know his whole household is down with Covid. The little 3-year-old had been up the previous light vomiting, with a fever and congestion. He said he's sicker this time than he was the first time he got it.

I feel so bad for them - I hate to hear of anyone that is ill, especially my boys. I don't know - it's the Mom in me. It's been a week and a day since we saw them in person for Thanksgiving - I'm guessing we are okay. I choose not to worry or to be afraid.  - After all, Jesus told us over 100 times in the Bible, "Not to be Afraid or to Fear Not."

Earlier in the day, we were supposed to go to our friend's house for the evening but they canceled, saying their whole household is down with the flu.

I don't care if it is the cold, the flu, or the creeping Covid - I don't like being sick PERIOD!  I don't like not feeling anything except my normal self.

It is crazy though, how my son, Foodie who works at a Care facility and has been exposed to Covid many times, has never gotten it. He's the only one in the family.

This morning we dropped off a box of food for the mission - a donation box to the Salvation Army - and dropped off the pumpkin bread I baked and the 3 chocolate advent calendars for our friend's 3 children. We placed them on the front porch and called them - to let them know they were there.

My husband put up our outdoor nativity - and that's been pretty much it.
Dreary days make me sleepy and lazy. I don't like being too lazy - and am trying to motivate myself to do something constructive.

Already we're almost through December 3rd - boy does the time go by fast.

I hope you all have a nice evening.

  1. I'm so sorry about Navy and family all being sick. I hate it too. My littlest granddaughter has been sick for a week with possible RSV, but is doing better now.
Hope they are all feeling better soon!

    1. I know my son and his wife are vaccinated - my DIL is a nurse and my son works at the Veterans Home and it was mandatory. The other family that is living with them, I don’t know.

  3. Oh no, I do hope they get to feeling better. I will keep them and you in prayer. No dreariness here in central Florida-still warm and green here (ducking, grin).

    1. After a stifling hot summer as we always have we all genuinely enjoy the cooler Fall/ Winter. The snow on all the mountains make us want snow in the valley… it’s truly a beautiful time of year.

  5. I'm sorry about Navy and his family. I hope they feel better soon. Your friends, too! Seems like the flu is rampant right now. Several people I know have had the flu and it's a nasty one!

  6. So sorry that Navy and family have Covid again. It is scary for a mom to hear their babies are ill (and they are our babies no matter how old they get). Kris never told us when he came down with the virus for a second time.

    God bless.

  7. Poor kid. I do hope both families recover quickly. There is so much of the various viruses floating around.
We had a wee bit of a warm up today, and I was out to shovel the driveway and sidewalks. I don't like going out in this weather and my get and go sits down on the couch a lot.
    Take care.

  8. Debby, I'm so sorry your son and his family all got the virus. I hope they feel better very soon. And that poor little one getting so sick. I think it's good that you are not worrying or afraid. All the food that you donate and drop off to the organizations is such a good thing to do. I'm sure they appreciate it very much. I'd love to see the outdoor nativity sometime. We got some rain also, and our first big snow was yesterday!

  9. Dearest Debby,
We hardly can keep up with the time...
Like you—having that drive to do something constructive—it is not easy on the dreary and dark days of the year.
Luckily both of us haven't had a cold in a long time and we try to live healthy for building up our immune system. Both of us are strong believers in the natural antagonism! Guess that's what has kept Foodie going as well.
Fear is the most negative influence for our health... it affects our immune system!
There are evil powers that have preyed on that way too much and so many weak and vulnerable have succumbed to it.
May God help us all getting uphill in many ways.
It will be raining soon here and it is so gloomy dark!
But we will make it through those days as well.
I always call them 'marmots weather' where you like to curl up and hibernate. Our kitties are a good example!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  11. Oh I am so sorry to hear about your precious family being so sick, and I understand how your Mom's heart hurts for them, prayers that they recover quickly! I know about dreary days - we have lots of them here. Winter comes early and stays late :) I have a nativity outside also, with lights on it. I hung a few lights around our porch, and lots of fairy lights inside. It helps with the dreary days! Praying for the Lord's help for your family!
