Laying Around

We're not used to this weather -

it's been a long time since we have had a normal/healthy rainy season. It reminds me of when I was a kid and my dad was a contractor  - when he was home, due to rain - he was cranky. When my dad's company was unable to work, that meant no money coming in.

Poor Laydee - she would prefer to be outside. Even though she is a lab, who loves to swim and loves the snow - she doesn't like the rain and the wind. In between sunbursts, we hurry up and take her for a walk.

Yesterday I finally got my flu shot that I kept putting off or forgetting.
I got the last dose.

We really are in good shape after these storms. (More is on the way) I try not (doesn't mean I never battle with that) to be scared or frightened - it does me no good and it won't change anything. Some things are just out of our control. All we can do is prepare the best way we can.

Like Wildfire scares me - and heavy winds the most. At least I don't have to think about that for a few more months. Even then, we just learn to live with it and do what we can do.

God, grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change...
Courage to change the things I can,
And Wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.

I talked Foodie into seeing the Doctor if he doesn't get better in 3 weeks. That would be a total of 6 weeks. He did say he sees a little improvement - he can at least breathe now without extreme pain. If he sneezes or coughs, it still hurts.

If he breaks that promise, I will whip out my Mommy card - He can be stubborn. Then again, I have been known to be stubborn a few times in my life.

One good thing - gas is back to its normal price in town - we're at 3.46 - That's normal for us. So if the weather wasn't so bad, we'd take a drive but we have no business out driving in all of this. That's what gets your picture on the news!

That's about it - just staying home and doing what I can here. My husband loves his new recliner chair. It's so big and takes up a lot of space.

 Talk later -

Debby

  1. I am thankful to know that you are not in the worst of the weather out there. Yes, please just stay where you are safe. That picture of the rockslide in the road is scary. I think of that when we drive through mountains and always pray the rocks will stay in place! Praying you will continue to be safe. This too shall pass.

  2. I can't believe your gas is that price! You are usually much higher than us, but I just got gas here for $3.30.
Yes, Foodie needs to get to the Dr!

  3. Dearest Debby,
Poor Laydee, she is like our kitties lounging on their favorite spots.
We had a tornado watch until 21:00 and LOTS of rain...
So happy that I went to Atlanta on Monday for making my rounds + 3 extra stops.
My Rado watch ran out of battery so I had that replaced and I dropped of my last body for having it altered by the impeccable South Korean seamstress at Presstine Cleaners in Atlanta. She changes it into a top, just from the side where the leg openings start. This is a black one with long sleeves that I can wear under many things or alone.
So far I love those altered bodies—never liked the double panty lines under your pants or skirts (that I wear once in a while...).
And another thing that I discovered JIT=Just In Time the evening before when I took out my about 30 year old Chanel barrette and I could not press its spring for release. So I pulled it down in my hair—clenching my teeth. Then I noticed the spring got broken off half... Gee. We stopped at Neiman Marcus and I got such a grand and courteous treatment. They will send it out for repair.
It made me happy and the best of all was that there was NO traffic jam. Left at 8:30 AM and home by 5:30 PM with some juicy fresh cherries.
Yep the weather can surely wreak havoc and there is nothing we humans can do about that—Mother Nature is in control and always will be.
Glad to hear you son notices some improvement—however slow!
We never have the patience in such cases...
Both of us always get our flu shot in September in time before the bad season starts. When the R is in the month...
Chill some more with Laydee and with Susie!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  4. Yea, there are fierce storms throughout California. It's so sad when the flooding requires evacuation and when there are deaths. Laydee looks all comfy on his blanket and pillow. I really like the Bible verse. Thanks for letting me hear that again. I hope your son gets better with each new day.

  8. Your comment about your dad so resonated with me! My dad was a roofer and when it rained or snowed he didn't work either and he was cranky and we were broke! Stay safe! Hopefully Foodie gets well or gets to the doctor!

  9. I do hope that the rain and winds stop soon for you. Staying in day after day can get one down. I am really scared of winds. So many tall trees around us I worry about them falling over. Poor Laydee needs a good romp outside.

    God bless.
