Wet and Cloudy - no complaints

We're a bit waterlogged but that's okay.

Last night we had some good-sized winds - we had to run out and take down bird feeders and wind chimes, the flag, and decorative pieces on the patio as well as tie back the curtains.

No complaints though about the weather. It is still early in California's rainy season. I still think other places had it worse than we did.

I'm glad the blog is now updating - I had to go to Feedburner and "refresh" it. I guess 2023 has entered me into new blog issues. Yesterday I was unable to comment on anyone's blog. It wouldn't do anything. A few hours later I was promoted to anonymous.  On this blog, I was unable to reply to my own commenters. Today I can only comment when using my desktop - not my phone.

I baked my favorite cake - a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Simple. I use Trader Joe's yellow cake mix. It reminds me of the yellow cakes my mom would bake when I was a child.

I made a yummy soup last night -

We'll be eating this for lunch this week. Add some parmesan cheese on top and some crusty bread and YUM!

I watched church services online while my husband went to church - My body takes a while to un-rust on these cold rainy days. So I watched while I folded my laundry. Good sermon on contentment. I don't choose yearly words but if I did, I would choose contentment.

That's it for me on this wet, cloudy Sunday.

  1. I like the word contentment too. I also love that soup! Looks yummy. We had that water and wind too, about two weeks ago.

    1. Well then, look for this weather to come your way in a couple of weeks. The soup is good.

It's cloudy here, but not wet.

    1. I am content that we are having rain. I have to remind myself, when I start to complain that I would like a sunny day, to just go along with it. We need it so badly. It will take years to get the ground water up to where it was.

  4. Dearest Debby,
Stay safe with the winds and the rains!
You have to move a lot when such weather starts...
We're lucky that no bird feeder nor anything else needs to be adjusted.
Your soup sounds real good but I am not allowed to eat dark leafy vegetables nor root vegetables, neither potatoes—any form.
Cooking certainly gets more complicated but I try to stay alive for a couple more years...
Went to Mass with Pieter and next day I sang in the choir as usual.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  6. Glad to hear you are getting your rain.
I still have SOME comments going to the spam folder every so often.
    Contentment is a good word.
I don't pick words for the year either but if I did I would have picked 'others' .
It's not all about me but what I can do for others.

    1. The yearly word thing just isn't scriptural - and so why do it? It's Gods Holy Spirit that keeps me in check, not some word. Continually memorizing scripture is what I try to do, even though it does get harder each year.

  7. Well this soup recipe is going into my in file. YUM!!! Am making a beef roast tomorrow, so I will use the leftover beef to make this soup. TFS So sad about the rain and hope you are not in the path of the bomb cyclone. My favorite cake is anything with chocolate too! Jaice

    1. It will help, but its the ground water that will take a few years.

  9. Your soup with spinach and bow tie pasta sounds perfect for these cold Winter days. Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, even better. We had another snowfall, and the roads are slushy now. We have been getting rain too.

I hope the new year has been good to you. I tried commenting before, so I hope this goes through.
