A Wintery Mix

Happy Monday!

Saturday, Foodie and I went out to look at the scenery since it was a beautiful clear day.

Beautiful Mt Shasta from the Shasta Dam.

It was very cold and windy

We walked the Dam both ways and talked with the security guard at the far end. He offered to take a nice photo of Foodie and me. I don't get many photos of my boys and me.

The lake is looking way better than before. We have more rain in the forecast. This is definitely a wet year for us - it has been a long time since we have seen this much rain.

Today we're supposed to get a "wintery mix"  of everything. Thunderstorms, snow flurries, rain, wind...That's fine with me even though I am looking forward to gardening. The yards are a muddy mess.  The almond tree looks great - I do believe my husband saved it by brushing off all the accumulated snow from the branches.

This afternoon, we will be seeing a movie that has been on our radar - They are having limited showings, which I don't get.

The little library church my husband built is pretty much done from my husband's end. Now I have to decorate it and for some reason, I don't feel very confident about doing that. I need to think about it and come up with something that is easy. Sometimes I do overthink it and then put myself in a bind. Simple is always best.

UPDATE ON OUR EAGLES

Source: Fore

It seems the male eagle, Guardian got into a scrape with another male eagle protecting his territory and nest.  Photos show a gouge on his head with dried blood but he seems to be fine. They both are having a real-time with the "intruder eagles"

It happens. It's nature.

Sometimes I wish our city had never been named them and we all became so enmeshed  It has been a blessing to watch the good times, throughout the 15 years but we've had some seasons, that were tragic, and as a community, we all shared in the heartache. Now they are wondering if egg #2 is viable since Liberty had to leave the nest to help out Guardian in protecting their nest. We just don't know.

“For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills”

(Psalm 50:10)

  3. aahh, poor Eagle. I hope he heals. Animals in nature seem to always know what to do. What a pretty photo of Mount Shasta. I never tire of seeing this mountain. That's nice that you spent time in nature with your son last weekend. Oh, I look forward to seeing the little library when you paint it. You're right, simple is always best. And sometimes less is more. Enjoy your day of a "wintery mix." We got lots of snow today, and every time I look out my window, it keeps falling. Supposed to get a big one tomorrow too. I love the Psalm verse, thanks for sharing that. : )

  4. Pretty pic of Mount Shasta! Where is the pic of you and Foodie?
We have been in the middle of another ice storm here. Hoping it all melts soon.
Poor Guardian! I hope that egg is ok!

    1. My sons have asked me not to post their photos online. I no longer post family photos since I was harassed by commenters regarding my niece.

  6. Such a beautiful view of the snow capped mountain! That is gorgeous. And that eagle is magnificent. Sorry about his scrape on the head, but yes, I guess that's just nature. I do hope both eggs are viable. Our Sand Hill Crane mother is faithful to her nest, but we haven't seen father crane for over 24 hours. He may have flown in overnight and left before we saw him this morning, but it seems like he's been gone too long. I hope nothing has happened to him. Mother Crane can't venture too far from her nest lest a predator come and mess with the eggs, so I know she is getting hungry by now. I know they have this all figured out, but like you we watch and are anxious for them. And yes, Psalm 50:10 is an excellent quote and helps me to remember that God is in control, so I need not worry or fret. I was hoping to see the picture the man took of you and Foodie! I guess you don't show your family photos, but it was nice of him to do that for you. I hope you have a beautiful week. Take care and God bless.

    1. No more family photos - and my sons have asked me not to post their photos. (unless they are childhood) The internet can be cruel.

  8. Beautiful photo of the mountain! It sounds like a lovely time for you and your son.
Do enjoy the snow while it lasts.
Nature certainly can be cruel. I hope that the second egg makes it through the troubles.

    1. Sheri likes to keeps her location a secret and that's fine, I get that. (Like I don't post family photos.) but I think I know where she might live - She is in the mountains and I am in the valley/foothills.

  11. Mt. Shasta looks beautiful. The lake looks good. I am glad you had a good walk with your children. It's been cold here in our spot in Oregon. We did have a bit of snow this morning but it melted away early afternoon. Hopefully the second egg will survive and baby eagle will survive. Stay warm and blessed, Becky
