At the corner where I walk are several goats. They recognize me and call out to me. Yesterday I was on a roll, and kept going and later on, it bothered me that I didn't stop and make the time to tell them, "hello."
I'm an animal lover - how could I have done that? For them, to recognize me is an honor.
So today, I knew I would stop by and give them a pat! I took a couple of photos but they were so happy for the attention that they kept butting horns as to who would come nearer to me. This is the only photo that wasn't blurred.
When we are outside there are mornings when we can hear these goats. Coming from a metro area, I had no idea the sounds goats make and would hear a baby cry or a woman yelling. I wondered, what was going on, in my new neighborhood.
A neighbor mentioned to me about the goats and it was then that I was educated on the sounds of goats.
I still think they are adorable - funny sounds and all.
I love your story!! Have you noticed that they have rctangular pupils? This helps them see better.ReplyDelete
Yes they do have funny eyes. That's what makes them so cute.Delete
I love goats, they're such characters full of personality. My brother bought an acreage, and it came with several animals, including Cliff the goat. He was a good, old goat, and would butt your leg when he wanted affection. He passed away several years ago, but I still think of him fondly.ReplyDelete
Give your neighbour goats a pat for me too. :)
I like goats as well. And yes, I will give them a pat for you, tooDelete
Oh my goodness they do sound like someone screaming..... They are very cute though.ReplyDelete
I know - I didn't know what those sounds were. I almost called the police.Delete
Some of their sounds remind me of the older Budweiser commercials... Too funny!ReplyDelete
They are very cute and usually friendly too.
One very cute video is about goat kids in pajamas: https://youtu.be/RN50R3gycgo
Both of us lived and worked in countries where you frequently encountered goats.
Did you get my email yesterday?
I kept goats for milk for many years and loved them - they all have different characters. I used to like the sounds they made to their babies.ReplyDelete
Aww I bet that is a sweet sound. They are precious.Delete
Goats are so funny! I'm glad you stopped and gave them some attention. Sounds like they really wanted you to :)ReplyDelete
I'm glad you stopped to say hi to them! They sure make some strange sounds! I think hearing that goat screaming would make me think someone is in a lot of trouble!ReplyDelete
Yeah, I had no idea how they sounded until I moved up here, 15 years ago. I almost called the police I was so concerned.Delete
Oh my goodness those goats are screaming! Their pupils are rectangles. Weird.ReplyDelete
Yes, they are cute -Delete
I like the look of goats so damn cuteReplyDelete
I agree Jo-AnneDelete
My parents kept goats when I was little. They're such wonderful creatures! Very much like dogs. Friendly and funny! Your neighborhood goat is quite handsome!ReplyDelete
Yeah these goats are like dogs - and they remember you, if they see you a lot.Delete
Made me smile reading this. Hubby wished we lived on a farm so he could have a few fainting goats. JaniceReplyDelete
I would have loved to have lived on a farm - too old now to start doing thatDelete
I had a couple of goats follow me while walking a while back!! :)ReplyDelete
Nice that you stopped to say hi the the goats. Sounds like me with the cows.
That's right - you and your cows!Delete
How sweet to stop and talk to the goats. It seems as though they do crave your attention! What a lovely thought. Thank you for sharing this story with us. I've never been that close to goats before, but I do love and use goat's milk soap! LOL. A lady I know makes it, using fresh goat's milk from her goats.ReplyDelete
I enjoy petting zoos as much as the kids do - I also love those itty bitty goats, called pigmy goats. AdorableDelete
Goats are so cute!ReplyDelete
