Fall color, decorating idea and the neighborhood Emu's take a walk.

Aren't these walnut trees pretty?
They are at the farm we buy our produce from.

They have big community events all the time throughout the year.
They are now gearing up for the Christmas season.

What's been eating these leaves?

The "shamrocks" enjoy cool wet weather.
We've been having some mild rain since yesterday. No big storm.

On one side of the patio, the sky looks like this.

The other side -

One more coat of paint on the posts and it will be done.
The curtains will get hung and we'll put everything in its place.
I just got tired of the white posts -

I forgot to mention - when I painted the ceiling fan and all, I found a crack in the glass lights - so we had to use the old ones. I don't care for them and will look for cheap/free replacements after the new year. They seem to be stained just from the years.

What can I say? It bugs me...

A few years ago I saw an outdoor ceiling fan that used clay pots as the shades.
 It was so cute!

My husband said they might be too heavy and I hate to admit it, but he's right.

I'm now leaning toward painting them. They do make spray paint made for glass...That's probably what I will do. It's less expensive than trying to hunt for 5 clay pots - the size that would accommodate the bulbs.

Look what is walking down the street in the neighborhood.

Two Emu out for a stroll. I don't think their owners knew they were out. The animal control came out and they caught them after they gave them quite the struggle.

This really touched my heart.

As always I will continue to pray for Israel
and AGAINST the Antisemitism that is rising up around the world.

  3. I would be so surprised to meet that pair walking on my road. That's a beautiful train. And you are so right, we must fight against all this hatred and discrimination.

  4. Nice seeing the two emus walking down the road made me smile, not something I would see around here as emus are not seen in the suburbs

  5. That's something you don't see every day, a couple of emus walking down the street!!
Instead of clay pots perhaps you could used the plastic kind?

    1. We'll have less to do come spring. Next summer we have to devote to our front yard which we neglected due to the back.

  7. Oh wow, those emus must have been a sight in the neighborhood! So glad you got some rain! Your sky photo is pretty. I like your idea of painting the posts black, that's different. That would have warmed my heart to see that train decorated at the farm. I have a soft spot for trains, as my grandfather worked for the railroad. Look at those walnut trees in full Autumn color! I wonder what has gotten your shamrock leaves? Let us know if you find out.

Have a good November week, Debby.

  9. Wow, do the people that own the emus raise them for meat, or eggs? Or are they just pets?

    I like the black posts.

    God bless.

  10. Wow, those Emus make my Sand Hill Cranes look like little birds...I'm glad they were able to corral them. They can be quite difficult to handle. Love all the work you've been doing...you are very industrious. Did you ever read one of my recent posts https://pamelasopenwindow.blogspot.com/2023/11/friday-foto-friends-novemberthe-season.html I had a message in it for you about the Bald Cypress trees and some pictures of some here. Those are the trees that I believe your clock was made from. Oh, that picture of the wall of faces in Israel touches my heart too. Continuing in prayer for Israel and Antisemitism here and everywhere.

    1. Yes I just went over to read. I guess I missed your post. I'm running behind. Those trees are different and I know my folks said the trees were from Florida. In fact, I believe there is a stamp on the backside of the clock. One day I'll actually look...

  12. Well definitely not a sight you would see every fay with those emus. Am not a fan of walnut trees. The squirrels here hide them for their Winter food and most times they forget where they hid them and then we have small trees that pop up. The seed pods to these trees are also vert messy...but they have a nice fall color to them. Cute locomotive! Janice
