And We're Off...to a New Week!

I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to tackle this new week with renewed enthusiasm!

Today, I went to the grocery store for last-minute items, had a session with my Christian counselor, and have an interview for BSF leadership later this afternoon with the administrator.

My husband went to urgent care at the VA this morning with some ear pain. Apparently, he was a bit too aggressive in removing ear wax - OUCH!

On Friday evening, we went to the college to watch a jazz concert. The performance was outstanding, with alumni returning to showcase their talent. I am always amazed by the level of skill exhibited by these young performers. We sat with some friends from church and enjoyed the show. The concert ended at 9:30 pm, which is usually my bedtime. Despite living only 7 minutes away from the college, we were both so wired that we couldn't go to bed until almost midnight. I am not used to staying up so late, and as a result, I was dragging all day on Saturday. I took 2 naps to recover!

What a lightweight I have become!

I spent most of Saturday reading my new book on the Civil War. I highlighted it in yellow every time it mentioned one of my ancestors. It also cleared up some brick walls in my family tree. My dad's family were amazing!

This week on my A-Z blog posts:

So far, I have NOTHING for X and Y.

I have thoroughly enjoyed writing these blog posts on my other blog because it improves my brain function. I'm finding it easier to formulate somewhat intelligent sentences. Use it or Lose it! I enjoy the research and always dig deeper for the whole story. I would have made a good Detective. I'm grateful that I joined the challenge this year, as it helped me rediscover my passion for writing.  I thought I had lost the skill, but the A-Z challenge has reignited my love for it. Now, I'm excited to keep writing and improving my skills.

Uh Oh - There goes the budget!

We indulged ourselves this past weekend by eating out twice. We used to eat out more often, but recently we haven't due to the high prices. It was a nice change of pace for us. On Saturday, we visited our favorite Taqueria, and last night we went to In-N-Out. Both meals were enjoyable, and it was nice not to cook!

Foodie will be back tomorrow. Excited to hear about his trip and see photos!

Until Next Time,

Debby

But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed”

    1. I'm sorry to hear of this Jo-Anne. Sometimes we just have those times, when we're sad and can't put a finger on why. I will keep you in my prayers.

  2. It sounds like the challenge reignited your passion for writing. I can just see you reading madly and highlighting the bits pertaining to your family history. I leave that to my cousin and my son, both of whom love to research our family.

    God bless.

  7. Ouch! Your husband's ear must have really hurt! We ate out a few times while we were painting because we were too tired to bother trying to cook and clean up dinner dishes! I have to check out your other blog.

  8. In-N-Out is the best! I hear ya about the eating out prices. They seem to be going up all the time. But I'm glad you got to enjoy two meals. And who doesn't love eating out at their favorite taqueria? Those glasses in the first picture are so pretty. Love them. They look vintage. And this is special verse you shared at the end, Debby.

Ouch on the ear issue for hubby! Oh my! Hope he didn't damage the eardrum! Hope it heals quickly. Can't wait to hear about Foodie's trip. Hope there are pictures to share. I will have to take some time to go read your other blog about your ancestry, etc. I know that is interesting. I will try to visit soon. Take care my friend and enjoy your lovely days.

    1. They are goblets and unique - they have the star of David on them. We use them for special occasions like Passover etc.
Hubby's ear is healing - it now itches!
I will post Thursday on his trip. Hopefully he'll give me a photo or two so I can share.

  10. Ouch on the ear. We went out last Saturday and bought my daughter dinner for her birthday. The Civil War book must be a good read. My dad's ancestors were in that war. I just hope we dont have another civil war here. Too much chaos going on with the younger generation. Janice

  11. Hi, oh my, I did not know one could do that with cleaning your ear. What was the remedy for him to get well?
I am looking forward to hearing about Foodie's trip.

P.S. I just read an article about two brothers attacked by a cougar in California. The one brother died, the other has awful injures.

    1. The doctor told him to stop fiddling with his ears. To leave them alone and let them heal. That is working so far. In about a week or so, he'll go back in and they'll take a look and then show him how to use drops to minimize ear wax, which he has never had a problem with before. Crazy things, when you get old.

Foodie is back, and I'll post about it tomorrow. Hopefully, he will send me some photos. As for the brothers in Northern California, yeah, sadly stuff like that does happen. My son said he didn't see any bears but saw fresh tracks and bear scat daily.
