Rise and Shine - It's Monday!

Saturday, at the Old Dog Creek Bridge, which crosses Dog Creek at the junction with the Sacramento River and Sacramento River Canyon.

Foodie took the photos - it was an overcast day.

The "twins" are looking pretty cute.

When I left church yesterday, I took a picture of the church's property, which extends beyond what is visible.

Bee hives on the church property.

My husband planted our potted orange tree in the ground because it outgrew its container. It's been so cold here, but warmer days are ahead.

I have a busy week ahead. After 5:30 pm, I have to call to see if I have to go to the courthouse for jury duty. Normally, I would jump at the chance to go because I'm interested in criminal justice. Of course, nowadays it's much more convenient for me since I no longer have to arrange for children or work. The only issue is that I have prior commitments on Tuesday and Wednesday. I would hate to miss them, but jury duty is important. On Thursday, I don't have a big commitment, but I still don't want to miss it.

Have you served on Jury Duty?

What excuses have you used?

Do you have a busy week ahead or is it a relaxing
  "do-what-you-want-to-do kind of day?

Okay, off I go!

Debby

PS - and don't forget to go over and meet the Grandparents.

  1. Beautiful bridge!
You have great photos of the grandparents. The photo of Grandma Nanny looks so current, I would think it had just been taken. Love the Civil War history and the Quakers in the group.

Some real nice Old Dog Creek Bridge photos!
Wondering where the bees collect their honey from...

    1. Beats me. I didn't even know we had the commercial bee hives there. My husband said they'd been there.

  4. That is a very cool old bridge!!! I have never served on a jury but always wanted to. I never get called. My husband was almost picked for a jury a year after his brother in law was robbed and killed in Detroit while making deliveries. He told them that would be too biased to be on the jury and they dismissed him pretty quick!

    1. I would be biased as well. That is terrible.
I would love to serve on a jury. I came close once...

  5. Those are really nice photos that your son took of the bridge. I'm not familiar with this bridge. I think they look cool because it was an overcast day. He has a way with the camera. The baby eagles are darling. And I love all that land that belongs to the church. Not a busy week here, but getting ready to travel to my hometown soon. The calm before the storm. ; )

    Have a great week, Debby.

    1. It's near Lake Shasta. There's a new bridge that goes across I-5. You have to get off the road to see it.
You're going to have great fun visiting the family.

  6. ps.....your 1970 VW bus sounds nice. You know, Brian, (Jess' husband) has an old VW bug. He's had it for years, and it's the one thing he can't part with. ; ) Our cars our loyal to us, and some of us want brand new cars, but I'm content with the one I have. It's really not that old, twenty years.. But it's been a reliable car all these years.

    1. Those old VW's are classics so I wasn't about to sell it. So we kept dropping in new engines.

  7. Love the bridge over the Sacramento River. I'm so glad to see the sun and clear skies today. Wonderful property your church has. Lush and perfect for bees.
I'm off to see your "Grandparents"

  8. Oops, I guess I didn't answer your questions. No I have never served on a jury. I just was called but never used. Now I'm considered too old and don't get called any longer..
Today will be errands and hopefully getting some weeds pulled for the green waste can pickup tomorrow at O'Dark 30.

    1. You can still serve - but now you have to call them. What age is too old? I'm 70.

  9. The chicks are adorable, and this bridge is a work of art. After the jury duty is over, you must tell us all about the case!!

    1. I will tell you all about it once the trial ends. I hope I get on the jury. It would be interesting.

  12. What an awesome view of the bridges. I was called for jury duty the first time when I was 9 months pregnant. Got out of that one. The second time I wanted to be on a jury, but did not get picked. Janice

  13. What a beautiful old bridge.
I had jury duty once and made it all the way to picking of the jury and I was rejected.
I didn't use any excuses, I wanted to do it.

  14. Beautiful photos of the bridge and other properties. But those eagle twins are just precious! Love that you are able to view them on the live cam! They are really special. Reminds me of my own two Sand Hill Crane colts, who are growing like weeds! Jury duty? Interesting, my DIL Rose was called in for Jury duty today and apparently it is for a grand jury. Not sure yet if she will be chosen to stay. I have never been called, probably because we have moved so often they can't keep up with me. I think it would be interesting to do it, but I wouldn't want to be stuck on a long term trial or sequestered or something like that. I wonder how often they give potty breaks...that could be an issue...LOL. Take care and let us know what develops.
