My Saturday

We don't get many clouds like this in the summer. I think they're pretty. These clouds were rolling in last night. And because they had moisture in them, we actually had some humidity.

Sometimes we do get those thunderhead clouds that develop over the mountains. Those usually come on really hot days.

Today at the Strawberry festival. It was nice to get out and have some strawberry shortcake and ice cream and listen to all the music being played throughout the festival.

I sat for over an hour and listened to this one band play really good classic rock,  while the husband was still looking at the booths. He is a talker. He talks to everybody. Whereas I like to look around and then go on to the next booth. He lingers and looks at every single item. The guys playing in the band were like in their 60's and 70's. Old rockers!

So we agree to spilt up and meet back at a designated place at a certain time. I noticed that many couples do that - except it is the other way around - the women are out at the booths and the men are standing around or listening to the bands.

I figure, most of the time, I'm not buying because the stuff is just too expensive. The food is too expensive and not really good for you. I can smell the grease. The only food stand worth buying from are the Tamale stands. Yum. Oh and the strawberries. There were many items I would have liked to purchase. But I have good restraint. Mostly I got some good ideas on some of the wood crafts and garden crafts made from recycled stuff which I enjoy doing.

Crazy I didn't think to take any photos - except the one above photo to my son, to remind him, if he and his wife wanted to come. I don't know if they ever made it.

All in all, it was a nice day and I had fun. Tonight the husband will make pizza.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

  3. It looks like the weather was good for it. I would have loved the rock band! Around here, it is mostly country or bluegrass. which I am not that fond of. Oldies are my thing because I am an oldie myself!

    1. I pretty much enjoy all types of music. But I grew up listening to rock and roll and the "San Francisco sound" as well as the Beach Boys.

  5. Dearest Debby,
Love the Oleanders above the roof and oh, such a pregnant sky!
Like you, I'm not in for buying or eating at such events.
Still here, went in vain to Savannah airport and my flight got cancelled, rebooked and then the agent was NOT able to print boarding passes, not even with me reserved seats... the system just did not yield. A phone call from the agent with a high ranking Delta agent still did not yield anything. So they issued me a new trip for today.
We drove home with our designated driver and he will get us back today and drive home with Pieter. So my Pieter has the car for local errands which he manages very well but for years he cannot drive the Interstate.
That has been a stressful week... Water out on Tuesday for 9 hours; power off on Thursday evening right after we ate supper (luckily!) and it meant going to bed early as it was dark... Haha, what do we do without power?
Then this stress of my flight. On the news we heard that I'm not the only one!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  6. The Strawberry Festival sounds fun. They used to have one in my hometown, but I didn't go that often. Oh, I love browsing around looking at all the things in the booths, but like you said, everything is so expensive. The band playing the old classic rock songs sounds great. I love those old songs. And the tamales sound really good. I'm glad you got to go to this festival. Even sitting and listening to good music is nice. It rained here this weekend. Such a strange rain, but I loved it.

Have a good week ahead, Debby.
