And then there were two...

Do you remember how I was impatiently waiting for this book to arrive? Well, it finally came, and I have been enjoying it. But, just the other day, my husband went to the mailbox and found another book. I was charged for both books, but I have decided to give the extra book to Foodie since he loves history, and I believe he will enjoy it. It's just crazy how things like this happen sometimes, isn't it?

Not much on the agenda - I'm tired from too much running around today. I went to the butcher, grocery store and the bike shop with Foodie where he purchased a $1100 mountain bike. Glad I am no longer buying his toys! His e-bike doesn't do as well as a mountain bike. Anyway, those wheels are for commuting to work.

KOOL APRIL NITES
The Cruise

Taken a few years ago -

The Cruise is happening tonight. According to the news, more than 1500 people from outside California have registered for it this year, making it even bigger than before. Not counting those who are inside California. We won't be able to attend the cruise tonight. If you want to secure a good spot to watch the event, you need to bring your chair out on the sidewalk early in the day. Some people even stay there all day, but that sounds boring to me. As you drive along the route during the day, you will see many empty lawn chairs on the sidewalks. Some businesses mark their grass with tape to prevent people from sitting on it. It used to be easier to claim your spot, but now you have to get there as early as possible.

Tomorrow, we plan to head over to the civic center to see the cars on display.

The good thing is that it brings in a significant amount of revenue to our restaurants, hotels, and boosts the economy. In addition, it brings joy to people. There is a buzz in the air and people are having fun.

It's only 4:15 but I'm feeling sleepy. I'm going to take a nap and hope to get a second wind later.

  1. The e-bikes are so popular right now! Too bad you were not able to attend this, but it would have been so hard to get a good spot! I would not have gone.

  3. This looks like a huge event and one that my husband would love to attend. My Sam loves the old cars. Our grandson is stationed in California and he is always sending his pops pictures of the old cars out there. We are making a trip out there in a couple of weeks....maybe we will see a few. I guess the shipping centers are so busy that they don't even notice when an extra package gets put in the wrong order. Hope you enjoy your read.

  5. Two books? Good gravy. Glad you found someone to give it too. We too have cruise nights, but in a nearby town. I don't think they have started them yet, due to weather here.

  6. That cruise sounds like the Woodward Dream Cruise here in Metro Detroit. It gets more and more crowded every year. I have only gone once and that was many years ago! Hope you're rested up!

  7. I'm going to have to research the "Enclave" book to see if it's something I might enjoy. I just finished "The Hiding Place" by Corrie ten Boom and still on "Lily's Promise" by Lily Ebert. Both are Holocaust survivors stories. It sure has opened my eyes as to what's happening right now. We're heading towards another one if we don't keep our heads and guns.
Car shows are a lot of fun. We have them here from time to time. I like motorcycle shows too but they seem to have (temporarily?) fallen from favor. That's a pity.
Hope you're rested and feeling good today.
    Blessings.

  11. I saw a combination escooter/bike at the grocery this week. I would so love one of those but the expense is crazy. The lady driving it had a relatively big basket on the back to carry her groceries.

    Lots of cars there.

    God bless.

  12. I took a late nap today also. The kids were here for lunch, and didn't leave until after 3. Then I took a much needed nap! I would enjoy that car show! I love old classic cars, but I wouldn't sit out all day waiting either! Not crazy about crowds! That bike for Foodie must be really special! But hey, if he uses it every day, it's worth the extra money. What does he do when it rains or is cold? Oh wait, "they say it never rains in California, but girl let me warn ya, it pours, man, it pours!" LOL. I've never been there, but I remember that song! Mamas and the Papas. Okay, enough. I answered your questions on my blog tonight too! Let me know if you want to be my neighbor! LOL. We'd have fun!!
