It's not time yet but their back!

These car enthusiasts can't wait for Kool April Nites to start on the 19th, and their cars are revving to go.

There is excitement in the air. Show-and-Shine events are everywhere in town and just outside town. Any place there is a parking lot, there is a Show-and-Shine event. You go shopping - there are classic cars in the lots.

Some of the colors of these cars are so pretty. I like the one on the left -
my kitchen cabinets are that color!

Did you ever own a 66 Mustang?

I was a Chevy gal - probably because my dad was a Chevy Man. But I did like the Mustangs.

I call these cars - Clown Cars. So adorable.

My husband loves the RED cars. I'm partial to the retro blues and greens.

I came home and finally canceled our pet insurance. Our pets' combined insurance premium was $668.10 per month.

That's $8,017.20 a year!

I added up the vet bills and insurance paid last year and it is no longer viable for us. We probably should have canceled Susie's a couple of years ago.

They're not spoiled - just well-loved!

We decided that it would be better to open up a savings account and put half of the insurance premium amount in it for their medical and prescriptions bills. That will be more than enough.   I had been telling my husband for some time that the insurance was becoming too expensive - Thank God he finally, agreed.

Our homeowners went up - $300 more for this year.

I stopped into the Salvation Army and bought 2 summer tops for $8-

Last night, for dinner, I made potato soup, and I did something my son suggested - I caramelized my onions and then threw them in the soup. Oh my my my...the soup was restaurant quality! When I was sautéing the onions though, I was thinking of a big fat juicy steak! I love caramelized onions and mushrooms on a nicely grilled steak.

The husband is clamoring for dinner.

More car photos coming up in the next few days.

  1. I had a 68 Mustang! I love the mint colored car the same as you do. And now I want to see your cabinets! I love this color and have never seen cabinets this color. What is the large cone shaped black and white structure? I think pet insurance companies must make a fortune!

  2. Yes! Adding caramal onions work, so well in soups. Adding blackend corn also works. Having that extra, extra something makes soup pop! Glad you figured out the pet insurance. Saving on your own is an excellent idea.

  5. Oh boy, I love those classic cars. Its always so much fun to see them all together. Wish I had one. My first car was a little white Nash Rambler. Really loved that car. It was a 1962 or 3..I can't remember. It got me everywhere I needed to go.
Umm, yum love potato soup, especially with onions.
Yikes on the pet insurance as well as yikes on any insurance for those of us in California. I sure don't know what's going to happen this year. Hope they don't cancel us...Been with Allstate 60 years..never a claim...so we will see how it all pans out.

  6. Your son's right, sauteing onions before adding them to the meal always tastes better. I do that with my scrambled eggs and other foods. Your potato soups sounds delicious. This looks like a fun car show. I like the mint green one too! I didn't know your kitchen cabinets were that color. It must be cheerful for you in your kitchen. My best friend had a fiery blue Mustang, and we would drive to school in style. Me, I had to work my first job and buy my own car after high school. That pet insurance is expensive. I can see why you had to cancel it.

    Have a terrific week, Debby.

  8. Actually I did have a 66 Mustang. It wasn't actually mine but my step dad gave me his to drive while I was waiting for my 1970 brand new Dodge Challenger to arrive. : )
The mustang was blue but I'm with your husband, red is the car color of my choice. Every car that I have owned has been red and I never get tired of it.

  10. The cost of so much stuff is going up & up & up making it hard to make ends meet. I really like the look of old cars

  11. Neat car photos. Those shows can be fun.
Never had pet insurance. If they get too sick, well, I'll cry and pout but can't afford to spend that kinda dough. I have a special account to cover all our insurances and property taxes. That works very well. Much cheaper than insurance.
    Blessings.

  14. I have to say your first picture made me think you had gone down to New Mexico! I am one of a few I am sure that never cared about the Mustangs. My tastes have always been sports cars and classic luxury cars as my dream car. My first car was a 1965 MGB that was 11 years old and had a cracked head when I bought it. My Dad knew I really wanted an MG and said we can replace the head no problem! And I do mean WE. Anytime my dad worked on my car I was in the garage right along with him. My second car was also a MGB, a 1977 this time that was only 3 years old when I bought it and I still have that one stored out at my folks house. Hasnt run for probably 30 years now. One of my nephews started to work on it once but ended up rebuilding his dad's first truck instead.

  15. I have a credit card just dedicated for vet bills if I need it and it can only be used for that. I try not too, but sometimes I do if needed. It is called a Care Credit card. Not sure if it is throughout the states. Janice
