I like to clean my carpet twice a year minimum- preferably 4 times a year or every season. Years ago, when I had a family daycare in my home, I cleaned my carpets once a month. They still looked great after 24 years! I don't think they make carpet as sturdy nowadays.
It was time since I hadn’t cleaned them since last year. I only have carpet in the living room and master bedroom.
Once I moved all the furniture ( with my husband's help) they looked terrible. I’m not sure but we’ve only had this carpet for maybe 6 years. I could be off and it could be longer. You know how time flies when you have a new carpet!
I guess with a 70 lb. dog who enjoys her daily romp in the living room and wrestling with us there’s bound to be some major wear and tear. We love our animals - they are family. They are allowed to lay on beds and furniture - which means more work for me but they’re worth it.
It just so happens I like to clean the carpet and I have my own machine.
Now I’m off to the bedroom. The room smells better. It's not perfect - I can see the flaws but at least it gives the illusion of being clean.
GOOD NEWS
We had a semi-cloudy 82-degree day. Lovely! That’s why I had to clean my carpets. The temps will be dropping into the 70’s and we may get some rain.

Tomorrow we hope to drive up to Lassen Volcanic National Park to Manzanita Lake. They opened yesterday after being closed due to the Dixie fire. The park will close down soon for winter so I wanted to see some Fall colors.
It will really be cold up there. 52 for a high. Burrrrr. Then come home for some homemade chili.
I can't wait.
We have a carpet cleaner and clean our carpets every 3-4 months. I love how clean they look and smell afterwards. I hope you are enjoying your outing today!

DeleteSounds like a perfect day to clean carpets. When we had them, I would do that at least twice a year too because we have three dogs. I've since had all the carpeting removed and now it's vinyl that looks like wood. Easy peazy on my poor worn out neck and shoulders. I still have the carpet cleaning machine and now use that to clean the furniture and rugs.

I have hardwood as well in the rest of the house. But I like carpet in the living room and our bedroom. But who knows...once this carpet dies out, maybe we'll do wood there as well. But it might be hard to match up. So I think we are stuck with carpet.

DeleteI really need to clean my carpets, too. I'm trying to convince my husband that after almost 20 years (!!) it's time to get new...but for now, clean will have to do. And what a majestic view you shared and what a lovely part of the world you live in.

DeleteNew carpet looks so pretty. I'm hoping this carpet can last another 5 -6 years. At least this time, we won't have to buy a pad. We made that expense the last time we purchased carpet plus the bedroom carpet looks like new - its the living room carpet that gets the most wear and tear.
Dang, my carpets need cleaning as well and I should have done them a week ago. Oh well I need to find where we can now rent a machine as our own machine stopped working after many years of use.

Usually a supermarket or a hardware store. Owning your own machine is well worth it after a couple of uses - pays for itself and does as good of a job. I've paid to have it done and I did as well as the carpet guy did and for a lot less. Plus it's fun to clean carpet
