Halloween PAST

Yep, that's me in the middle. I was 5 years old.

We were living in the Haight Ashbury in San Francisco

BEFORE the hippie invasion.

Here I am at 8 years old - I was a local celebrity in Haight Ashbury that Halloween night. The San Francisco Chronicle snapped my photo after asking me to do the charleston. I remember saying, "What's that?" Then I told them I could do the twist" and thus it became immortalized in the paper and on the news and for about a week or so.

Channel 4 KRON TV interviewed me and I was on the evening news just before we kids hit the streets.

Everywhere I went, kids and parents would point and say

"You're the girl in the paper or the news."

I got a lot of hugs and some houses had me do the twist for them before they gave me the candy.

Some took photos of me - I wonder if all these years later if people have wondered why they had this photo of some strangle girl doing the twist?

Yeah okay, I'll admit it - I thought I was hot stuff.

Happy Halloween to all the kids, big or small -

Stay safe

  4. What a great costume! How fun that they took your picture of you dancing and put it in the newspaper. You will always have the memory of that and all the fun times dressing up as a kid. I had a lot of fun times in my neighborhood back in the day going trick-or-treating and my brother and his friend making a haunted house for the neighborhood kids. Good times for sure. That's so funny that some of the houses had you do the twist before they gave you candy haha.
