Getting mentally prepared for rotator cuff surgery

This is the type of sling I will have to wear for about a month.

Yeah, I was thinking about this blog, while I am recovering from my rotator cup surgery. I guess I could post small updates using the left hand, to hunt and peck. I might schedule a couple of posts ahead, in-between the one-armed updates. Then again, I might have no issue whatsoever.

We'll see...

This morning I practiced getting dressed using my left arm. I did it. Took a bit more time but I did it. I even tried to put tops on, by bending over and slipping them on and wiggling myself into them - all one-armed.  Hey, it may look funny, but it can be done. I can't wait till the husband installs my bidet attachment on my toilet!

Ooh, La' La'...

  1. Jim Abbott pitched a no hitter for the NY Yankees years ago...he had one arm.
Hope the recovery is successful and the time is short.

    1. Wow. That is amazing. I do remember that. That’s for the reminder.

Speaking of baseball, the San Francisco Giants back in the 90’s had a pitcher blow out his arm while pitching - Dave Dravecky. I remember watching it as it happened and thinking that was probably the most painful thing I’ve ever seen. It turned out he had a cancer. Poor guy ended up having his left arm amputated.

  2. A bidet. I am jealous. Prayers for you to have an easy recovery. I know you will enjoy the new shoulder when it is all over. Take care kiddo.

  3. I hope your surgery goes well. I know the difficulty of getting dressed after surgery such as that.

    God bless.

    1. Yeah and while I try to prepare there is no comparison to actually having to do it. Time will tell.

  4. Hoping all goes well with your surgery. Had a friend recently that had that surgery. It does poise some dressing difficulties. I love that you are already practicing. You are a trooper...sure you will do great. Will say a prayer for you.

  5. [laughing at the bidet comment] !!!! I've not had rotator cuff surgery but did have a right rib removed when I had Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. I had to learn to type and dress with my left hand. It's kind of made me ambidextrous, which is kinda cool. Just can't sign my name like a Lefty though but there's nothing Lefty about me. [giggle]
Sending prayers for successful surgeries. I know you'll do very well. God's got this.
    Blessings. xx
