Tent Trailer - Black Mold.

The big rain we had, ruined the tent trailer roof my husband just completed. It is covered in black mold. He had it covered in tarps but the rain that one day fell so hard and long and we flooded on that side of the house where the roof was laying (up on bricks) but the moisture caused mold to set in and we only found out about it yesterday.

I try not to get myself worked up over disappointments. Anyway, my husband takes these blows, more to heart. It happens. It's a shame but nobody died and it was just a tent trailer. So I told him to call and cancel the canvas tent. There was a chance they already started making it and fortunately, they had not! So we will get the $1100 back for the cost of the canvas tent replacement.

Since he will be keeping the tent trailer outside - it was going to be almost impossible for him to keep that thing dry, even with tarps.

So, we're not even going to think about it until the spring. We might just get rid of it - scrap it. Fortunately, we didn't pay much for the tent trailer. I doubt if anyone would buy it with no roof and no canvas tent. Perhaps another DIYer with big dreams like we had.

Life Goes on...

Yesterday I had my 1-week post-op follow up and all is well. I can see the first line with the teeniest tiniest print.

Right now I have a big pot of homemade Vegetable Beef and Barley soup simmering. We'll have a loaf of sourdough bread with it. I had to go to 4 places before I could find barley. I wonder what's up with that?

Last night we enjoyed dinner with our friends - they are a young family with 3 kids under the age of 8. For some reason, they really like us and enjoy being around us - so do their little ones. It's unusual for young people to want to hang around old people.

My friend Margie I have spoken about fell in her home - she had lost consciousness. So she had to get a pacemaker put in and now she is at a rehab place - she is NOT happy there. Plus only her family can see her and when I try and call, I can never get through to her room so today I drove down there and hand-delivered a note to her, so she wouldn't think I have forgotten her.

Beautiful photo my son texted me.

From everything I am reading, "they" are saying we may be in for a wet winter which is great news. Mt Shasta has beautiful snow on it and Lassen and the Trinity Alps have a dusting. I want to get over there before my rotary cup surgery to get in some of my own pretty photos -

    1. Yeah it's disappointing. I guess we've hit that age where we just can't deliver the things we used to. It's a big blow to his ego

  2. So great to Shasta with snow after all the summer pictures of it so bare. I hope your friend is able to return home soon.

  3. I miss camping sometimes, especially this time of year, but we had given up on RVing awhile back. It was too much money and work. I think if we get back into it we'll go with a super nice tent with a canopy and use cots, etc. It's cheaper, easier to store, and when we get sick of it, well, easy to dispose of. When we had a towable seems like the entire time we worked on something. That's not a vacation for me.
So sorry about Margie. What a splendid idea to give her a handwritten note! Wished I'd thought of that.
I hope your eye surgery(s) are going well. Ready for the next one? I know you'll be glad when all this is over and done with. Prayed for you this morning during my walk.
    Blessings. xx

  4. Im sorry about the tent trailor...thank goodness you were able to get that money back. Thats a lot of money to just throw away... but, God always seems to work things out and usually not in the way we believe they should look. Im also sorry to hear about your friend. Hopefully this will make her feel better... Wonderful news on your eyes!!!

As for hanging with old people, oddly, when I was a little girl I was always attracted to senior citizens, always, I still am and Im 51!.. My mom used to take me to the nursing home to see my great grandmother and I couldn't have been more than 5? I would go from room to room visiting with all the residents.. I loved being around them.... Still do..

    1. Most of my friends have been almost old enough to be my mother. Must be because I was the first born.
