Beautiful Spring (NOT!)

Look east toward Mt Lassen

Lassen Peak is one of the largest plug dome volcanoes in the world. Its last eruptions were between 1914 and 1921, with the largest explosion on May 22, 1915.

It's Spring here in Northern California. H70's and into the 80's next week. Everything is blooming. Our almond tree has pretty pink blossoms.

BUT, as in other parts of the country, this is just one of those false Springs - it happens, and then a few weeks later in March or April, we get cold winter temps that threaten our agriculture.

One thing for sure, it's another drought year - we haven't had any significant rain since early Jan.

The husband and I took a drive - I am still too weak to get out and hike. We weren't the only ones who wanted to get out and enjoy the day. My sons, Foodie and Navy went down to the Chico area to hike around Phantom Falls.

Yesterday I actually cooked for the first time in over 3 weeks! I can't complain because my husband has been dear but my kitchen is all messed up - I can't find anything. I haven't done laundry since my surgery. There is a lot of chores I haven't done in weeks.

My arm had to take a back seat when I was sick - but it's doing fine even without having physical therapy. I believe I go on Wednesday for the first assessment. I'm behind schedule but it is what it is. Not going to worry about it.

I hope this finds you all well and enjoying whatever weather God has bestowed on your side of the country (world)

  1. We've got some warmer weather in the forecast this week (near or just above freezing) and I'm so looking forward to it. I'd send you some of our snow if I could. I think we're safe from a drought this summer.

    Take care.

  2. That big system sitting over the north pacific has been keeping so many storms from us here in southwest ID ~ thank the universe! Temps up into the low 40's in the next week ~
Sending thoughts for gentle healing ~

  5. We too have plants blooming with a cold freeze in the near future. But that is typical of middle GA. We have about four to six weeks of winter. But those weeks are not consecutive days, They are spread about the months of November through March. If we get a rare snowfall, it is almost always the end of March. Go figure. God makes the weather. But I am putting a lot of peat around my blueberry bushes so they survive.

  6. The restaurant on top of the Redding airport and the view of Mt. Lassen was a favorite dinner spot for us when in the Redding area.
