First Day of Autumn and a Snow morning

I wanted to get up to the mountain to see the snow - on this first day of Autumn.

Bunny Flat - 6970 ft elevation

The last time I was up here a few months ago it was covered in snow.

It was a beautiful morning - about 46 degrees.

I was sitting on a bench - watching the clouds float by

Above the Tree Line.

Took the remainder of the road up to the Old Ski Bowl trailhead.

Yes, that is snow patches on the ground. We let Laydee romp around in the snow -

I was wearing sandals.

Not as crowded as it usually is on the weekends - there are always people up here from other countries and states.

14,479-foot elevation at the peak. You need a permit to climb to go any further.

I like the look of craggy mountains -

On the way back down -

So nice to smell the fresh air - crisp and cool.

A very thick forest of trees.

Black Butte

is a cluster of overlapping dacite lava domes in a butte, a satellite cone of Mount Shasta.

We had a lovely morning and got back home for lunch!

It is 81 at my house - and I got my feet wet with snow, all in one day!

Welcome, Fall -

  3. Oh, the photos are really nice, Debby. I've heard of Bunny Flat - just haven't been there in awhile. I just saw two deer in my neighbor's yard as I was sending this comment. Opened the front door to get a closer look. I'm glad you got to go up to the mountains first day of Autumn. What a nice idea that was.
