Raisins, Pomegranates, lamp shades and RAIN!!!

My husband is on his way home - the last text was from Sacramento.

They stopped by the Sun-Maid Raisin plant - I don't know if you all have Sun-Maid in your state or country or if it is strictly California.

He sent a cute photo of him standing next to the Sun-Maid statue -

Headquartered in Fresno Sun-Maid raisins are grown in the Central Valley of California, midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, a region known for its unique Mediterranean climate perfect for growing grapes and drying them to make raisins. The grapes are picked at harvest time, usually late August to early September, and dried naturally in the sun, either by hand-picking them and laying them on paper trays or by allowing them to dry-on-the-vine

They produce more than 200 million pounds of raisins each year.

Pomegranates -

Gleanings are surrounded by citrus trees, peach orchards, and pomegranate trees.

I finished those dumb lamps. Grrrrrr.

Now the shades are a problem so I am thinking about scrapping the whole thing.

I'll still share a photo of them. A proper lamp shade is the icing on the cake or the cherry on top. The wrong shade can just be...WRONG!

Have you ever done that?

You start a project - finish it - don't like it for one reason or another?

The really exciting news is we're supposed to get some rain on Saturday night into Sunday. Way cooler temps, too.

  4. Yes, I love Sun-Maid Raisins, they are the best! I put them on my oatmeal sometimes. Wow, that's a lot of raisins they produce every year. Oh, Pomegranates. I used to put one in Nel's stocking every Christmas. Too bad about your lamp project. My brother-in-law might give me a dresser, and I have know idea how to start to make it look nicer. I guess I'll start with a good cleaning and polishing, and go from there. I was thinking of painting it white, but it has a marble top, and might not look well. I wish I was good at working on projects like you are. I hope you get some rain tonight and tomorrow.......and I hope we do too! It's overcast this morning.

    1. Hmmm I'm thinking a white dresser with a marble top would be pretty -just google "white dresser with a marble top" and see for yourself.

  6. Yes, Sun-Maid raisins here too. Originally from NJ and grew up eating them. My mom used to put one of the little boxes in my bag lunch going to school. :)

Oh yes about finishing a project and then not liking it!!

Sure hope you get that rain!!

  7. I have a picture somewhere of that same raisin box. We went there years ago.
My folks place has a couple Pomegranate trees out at their place so I get some every year. My sister in law and a friend both make jelly from them so I also get some of that every year... yummy stuff!
