Autumn in the morning - Summer in the afternoon

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.- ALBERT CAMUS

Today was the coolest morning we have had -  at a cool 57.
High today is supposed to be 97 and the 10-day forecast still has us in the 90s.
Sleeping at night with the windows open is a treat! This year, no smoke!
AC doesn't kick on till mid-afternoon.

Dude, Autumn Happens Here, Too.

We Californians, have to fake our Fall until the real one gets here -

We decorate - buy pumpkin spice candles and pretend, it is Fall -

It may be Fall on the calendar, but it's still summer.

Fall colors are just starting to change in the Sierras - a good time to go to Yosemite, Sequoia National Park, and Kings Canyon.

I keep looking...

Meanwhile, the mini roses keep blooming.

After the bout of 115+ heat, we had a couple of weeks ago, everything stopped blooming. Now some of my flowers are starting to bloom again. The foliage part on some of my plants is dried out.

So I continue to get out and about in the mornings - so I don't have to be in it during the afternoon heat.

This time of year also has me absolutely sick of my clothes. I'm sick of the same old shorts, and tops - They need to get packed away. I have so many nice Fall weather clothing that I can't wait to start wearing.

  1. Here in Michigan, the upper peninsula is in full color and we're seeing some pretty good color in lower Michigan too. And I'm starting my season of being cold all the time!

  2. Dearest Debby,
Happy for you that the mini roses are rewarding you with beautiful blooms now it is a bit cooler.
These temperatures and the lower humidity make an enormous difference.
Both of us biked for two consecutive days in a row—just to enjoy the PERFECT weather!
No fall colors yet, not in the heart of Georgia...
Yes, Spring and Fall are the loveliest seasons in nature!
    Hugs,

  4. Debby, thanks for visiting my blog. I live in the mountains on the other side of the Central Valley and our fall weather is similar to yours. But, in a few days, we should be in the 70s during the day and I'm so looking forward to that.

    1. I love the Fall months when the temps start dropping. We’ll have to wait just a bit longer.

  5. My goodness that cool temperature must feel very cold compared to what you're accustomed to. Fall is definitely here, and the leaves are quickly falling. I've got an apple crisp in the oven, a nice dessert for a cool day.

  6. That is quite a difference in temperatures from morning to night. At least it is good sleeping weather. The roses are beautiful.

    1. It was 97 today so yeah that’s at least a 40 degree drop. That would be our first indication that Fall is here. Unfortunately we’re still HOT.

  7. Well, we don't have to fake Fall up here in the mountains. It comes pretty early, and we've had cooler temps for weeks. It's cold throughout the night too, and have had my heater on. Your pink roses are really pretty. My mini pink rose bush didn't give me many roses this year. I like the October quote, one of my favorites. I hope the weather gets cooler so you can wear those nice Fall clothes. I don't have many, and not many shops up here, so I have to wear what I have.

  12. It's still hot here in Oregon as well. 87 degrees today but nights and mornings are cooler. Looks like the coming week is all in the 70s finally. There's smoke in area but not too bad. Hopefully we'll get rain soon. I remember watching the series Anne of Green Gables and earlier reading her story. 🎃 time is here. I bought a nice gourd and it's on our doorstep. Thanks for commenting on my blog.
