Pumpkin time!

This morning I got out my outside pumpkins -

Before I set them out, I spray-painted the back of them, because they show through the picket fence.

I'm a bit OCD, that way.

They don't have to be perfectly painted - which they are not. Just so, the metal doesn't show through the fence.

I didn't know this until I took the photo, but it needs to be closer to the fence. It looks squatty.

This year I wanted to see my outdoor decorations from inside the house.

I drug out this table and chairs from the backyard - I will start getting it set up with Fall decorations, soon.

Those Aloe Vera plants I started from my other HUGE one are doing well. I have about 5 more pots.

Usually, I put real pumpkins on the table and chairs with my Mums - this year, fresh pumpkins are expensive. The cheapest I saw was $7.00 and the most expensive was $17.95

Looks like I will pass. I buy all sizes and colors - and I can't see spending that much this year.

It looks like Fall due to the dried leaves - but to tell the truth - they've been there pretty much all summer due to the heat. The trees haven't turned yet.

My shamrock plant is growing beautifully. (Oxalis)

Pops gave us this plant 5 or 6 years ago so this plant is very sentimental to us.

We are really missing our fish - the husband did find 3 of them, possibly 1 more (a black one that is sometimes hard to see) in the lower pond. They were the babies.

So a new generation will live on -

I got used to them - every time I would go near the pond, the big ones would open their mouths and swim close to the surface -

"feed me, feed me."

They were fun and we have had some of them for years!

  2. So you lost the fish? Maybe some kind of predator got them, sad. I love all your pumpkin decorations!!! I would not have a favorite, but the one with the crow on it is unique and so cool. I think they all look perfect just where they are!

  3. Dearest Debby,
Starting with your fish... Don't know the size of your pond but would you be able to have a kind of netting staked over it? That would at least protect your cherished fish.
Our pond is way too big for doing that...
You are in the mood for fall and for decorating with pumpkins.
We never ever have done that part...
LOVE your healthy and happy looking shamrock—keeping someone's memories alive☘️
Hugs and enjoy the new view!

  4. I love all your pumpkin decor! I can understand painting the back of the pumpkins that show through the fence I think I would, too!

  5. The pumpkin decorations are sweet! I haven't checked prices for pumpkins this year, but I doubt I'll be buying one.
Most of the trees have turned here and are dropping leaves like crazy. Across the street the neighbour's tree is still green - it's always the last to go.
Glad some of the fish made it through! I'm sure they'll soon be turning up looking for food. :)

  6. You have lots of pumpkin decorations in your yard! That's great that you spray paint the backs first. Makes sense, cause the neighbors would see that side. Your little table and chairs look just right for Halloween. Yes, fresh pumpkins aren't cheap.....that's why I only buy one for my front porch. I can't seem to go without an orange pumpkin for the season though. There not that expensive here in the mountains. They are usually reasonably priced. Your shamrock plant is pretty.

Have a relaxing weekend. You really have a way with projects. I find them exhausting, but you always seem to enjoy them.
