Operation Shoebox

Time to pack up my shoebox I picked up from my church -

No candy - some shoes, socks, new toothbrushes, hairbrush, pencils, sharpener, crayons, a hair bow etc.

Shoe boxes are not that big - I had to arrange and rearrange several times - like putting together a puzzle.

Now I just need to tape down the label and drop it off.

Yesterday I saw a lot of Cal Fire trucks in a parking lot. As I drove up further, they were standing on every corner holding a fire boot -it’s their “Fill the boot.”

Just another food, toy, drive we have sprinkled throughout town. There is also the marine corp’s Toys for Tots as well.

As these are wonderful campaigns, I do wish this generosity would continue throughout the year.

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

    1. Funny you should say that - a few years ago after a fire in swept through another area, my community gave more and sent resources than any other California town. Perhaps because we have been on the receiving end - after a fire came to our town.

It’s fun to shop for little ones and since we have no grandchildren that shouldn’t stop us from giving to children.

  3. I wish so too! I work with a few non profits in my area - food pantry and homeless shelter - and I do wish some people would give in August instead of at the holidays!

  4. You did so good with that shoe box. It's surprising how much you can fit in, but it is a puzzle sometimes. Our church also does the shoe boxes.

  5. Oh, some little girl is going to be very happy. I'm amazed at how much you were able to pack in the box.
I agree, there are people in need throughout the year. I donate funds to our local foodbank a few times a year, the need is never ending.

  6. Good items in the shoebox. I've got mine ready except for a card with a letter and photo. This year it's for a boy. I wrapped a shoebox with Christmas wrap paper. A bit bigger than ones from church. Apparently there are ones at Hobby Lobby but haven't gone there for awhile. Fun place to shop at though. God bless.

  7. Look at all those goodies in the shoe box! What a wonderful thing your church does. I would love getting that as a kid. You did a great job putting it all together. That's really a special thing you did.
