Roses and Leaves

We got to take home the dozen roses that adorned our military table Sunday.

On my morning walk around the neighborhood.

LISTEN  -

Perfect morning for a Fall walk - leaves glistening in the breeze...

 So many layers of color

The same type of tree - but individually they all change colors at different times. I think it might have to do with sun exposure.

My yard

My tree is sheltered by my incense cedar - it is one of the last in the neighborhood to change.

The really cold weather has passed - snow is slowly melting away on some of our closer mountains.

The scrub oaks and other Oak in the area have not changed colors. Many do not -  and keep their leaves all throughout the year.

Not much going on - I roasted a whole chicken yesterday - it was very good. I've decided I prefer roast chicken to roast turkey. I'm glad I am not hosting Thanksgiving this year. It is still cheaper to buy a whole rotisserie chicken at Costco than it is to roast it at home. It's still $4.99. I wonder how long they can hold out?

Yesterday I went to the Goodwill and to the Salvation Army - just looking for things I can make over - and looking for mini doll furniture...I came home with a small shelf instead for $3.00

It's about 10 inches wide and has a plate groove -  What can I say? I liked it.

  1. I LOVE the pretty shelf! Do you know where you will put it, and what you will put on it yet? Show us when it is in place and loaded! You have gorgeous trees with so much color. I have never heard of an Incense Cedar, but WOW to the fact that you have an actual Cedar in your yard!

  3. Dearest Debby,
Those are lovely red roses for taking home—lucky you!
The trees are changing beautifully golden in your immediate area.
There seems to be quite some wind though, from listening to the video.
We too have semi evergreen oaks that never get bare and that looks nice all winter. They do shed leaves though and also get new ones!
Prices are something this Christmas season... food is all UP.
    Nice looking shelf.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  5. Your red rose made my heart sing Debby, thank you. I like your small shelf with the plate groove. What a deal that was. My china cabinet has a long plate groove installed in it for displaying plates and such. Fall looks so pretty in your town. You have the similar colors that we are getting. I liked the "Fall walk" video too. It looks
like a peaceful walk. Well, I have to scroll back up and check out that red rose again. ; )
