Happy Thanksgiving

I was sitting outside and enjoying this beautiful day.

So grateful and THANKFUL I am not the one cooking today. I do have to make a big batch of mashed potatoes.

Our dinner won't start for another 5 hours - Navy works today - who doesn't like double time and a half? He gets off work at 3:30 so it's not a big deal to wait.
We've always done it this way, with many in the family working in hospitals and medical and care facilities.

I then went into the backyard - I could hear families beginning to gather. I'm hearing children squeal with delight -

We're at 75 degrees which to me is perfect. If I was hosting,  we'd sit outside to eat. We are getting a very warm breeze...feels nice. It's cold in my house so I come outside to warm up.

To kill time I will bake blueberry bread, just for us. I already made some pumpkin mini bread to give away.

We both made our phone calls to the VIPs in our life...friends, and family who live far away.

I am thankful for all of you - I enjoy so much reading about your lives and families. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

  1. I did the cooking but didn't have to do the clean up. Liz made me sit while she cleaned up. :)
    Happy Thanksgiving.

  2. Sounds like a relaxing Thanksgiving. I love this time of the year. Not too hot, Maybe a wee cold in the mornings. It never snows here but we do have heavy frosts at times.

  3. Is this your front or back porch? It is lovely! I have always missed having a nice porch like we did in my childhood.

  4. Dearest Debby,
Sounds like a perfect and calm Thanksgiving day!
We didn't have such balmy weather.
Today it is raining and only will be 60°F.
We both went to Mass in the morning and for the rest we had not much of the usual Thanksgiving things—but were happy with our meal and day!
    Hugs,

  5. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, Debby. My son roasted the turkey, and it was really tasty. I always make the sides every year. Your back yard looks comfy and cozy. And your front yard looks all cleaned up and nice. Oh, I miss the grass, but I'm on a big corner lot, and it wouldn't be wise to put grass in with the drought and expense of it all. Yes, sometimes I just go outside to warm up cause it's too cold in the house. Your blueberry bread sounds great! And pumpkin bread, even better.

    1. That's nice of your son to roast the turkey.

To be honest, that green stuff is not grass - its just green weeds. We are still trying to figure out what to do with that area. So we water and mow just to keep it looking presentable.
