Pacifica, Storms and more frustrating BLOGGER issues

This is Pacifica -

For decades this part of the town I grew up in has been eroding away.

We're wet - but all is well. I am so happy I no longer live in the Bay Area. Places I lived have flooded - roads have caved in. Up here, we see minor road flooding, and certain pockets that are prone to it but for the most part, nothing dramatic!

Granted there are always the dumb and curious, who decide they want to go kayaking in the middle of a huge storm (atmospheric river) and need to be rescued. I saw this one video with a healthy young guy who was "stranded."

All these rescue workers had to get into a boat to rescue him - the water came up to their crotches if that high. They all had smiles on their faces because they knew how ridiculous it all looked. Local news crews were there filming. Even the young guy being rescued had a sheepish grin.

Apparently, my post feed is not updating recent posts. I didn't change anything. It just happened. At the same time, I had disappearing posts - and other annoying effects.

How are you getting my posts? By email? Using the Blogger reader or do you have my blog in your sideline widget? Is it updating?

Hopefully, now it is - or maybe not. It might be a couple of days until I can figure it all out.

Oh well, it's just a blog - not the end of the world.

Peace!

Debby

  5. Dearest Debby,
Yes, and on my sidebar you did update and here I am...
Still catching up so the entire day no blog reading.
Oh, both of us have seen that erosion on Hwy 1, passing through Pacifica on the way to Santa Cruz.
Scary and Mother Nature is rough and man cannot tame her!
    Hugs,

  6. Like Morton's salt, in Ca. when it rains it pours! What a mess, I hope that these storms will at least ease the drought, but of course the news tells me that all the water is being washed out to sea and the drought is as bad as ever. I know the droughts we have had back east never go away with rain, we are told the ground absorbs the rain as it is so dry, news never reports droughts as going away, they simply just stop mentioning it. Anyway, stay dry if you can.

    1. Yes that is true. It doesn't make sense but with many dams north of us, closing the water is not being saved. Yet you only hear about that if you live around water storage places like Shasta Lake. It still has a long way to go to fill up but even then, last year after a month of good rain, they were letting water out - they said it was for the ecosystems. California will never be out of the man-made droughts the continually government perpetuates.

  7. I have a list of blogs I read in my favorites column, and I just click on them and get the current posts. You are also on the side bar of my blog so I see updates there too! Mother nature is a tough cookie!

  10. I have new blog posts sent to a feed reader (Feedly). Your posts show up regularly, but in my opinion Blogger is having all sorts of annoying issues.

  11. You are on my sidebar and so far I seem to be getting updates. At least I think so.

Glad to hear that you are not flooded out as of yet.

    God bless.

  12. Seeing all the damage around Santa Cruz is heartbreaking to me. Jim and I always spent a weekend in late June going to the Gilroy Garlic Festivile one day and then to Sea Cliff beach to boogie board the next. That is until the pandemic hit. Now with him gone, the Garlic Festivale gone (or changed) and the beach a mess it makes me so sad that it is all just memories now.

    1. Oh I know. When I moved up here I said I would go back to the bay area once a month to be with my friends. The last time back was Nov 2016 when my 2nd best friend died and it was her memorial. It took forever to get there - traffic and then couldn't find a safe place to park - it didn't look like it used to. Or maybe it was me and I'm used to a bit more wide open space. The streets were dirty and narrow. Yes the Garlic festival is no more after that shooting. I just don't know if these areas will ever be what they used to be ever again. It is sad.
