Blogger issues I am having and Easter memories

This only happens on my iPhone, where I used to - comment and comment back on my blog. I can't rely on that anymore, so it takes me having to get on the desktop, and reply, which is doable but I cannot do it quicker which frustrates me.

The above is what I get on most of your blogs - I clicked on "Learn More." and tried to remedy the issue on my phone's browser to no avail. I tried signing out and then signing back in - turning my phone off and then on again.

NADA - Nothing!

There are a few that I am able to at least comment on as Anonymous; which I don't do...

Instead, I put my name and my blog link instead so you know who it is.

This is why I seem to be late in my comment to some of you - if I get the first notice. The others I can at least comment. Sometimes I am a couple posts behind.

Happy Monday and Happy April.

Saturday the husband and his daughter went to the Reptile and Snake Expo. She loves snakes and loves to handle them. They sent me a photo of her holding this 50lb yellow snake - wrapped all around her.

It was something I wish I had not seen. It gave me the willies. I made my husband take a shower and throw his clothes into the wash after he came home. I have nothing against snakes - but I think it's better to leave them in the wild. Actually, I think, it's a bit cruel for the snake. But what do I know?  I'm not as afraid of snakes as I used to be - I still won't handle one or even touch one. I'm not interested.

I do like geckos, lizards, tortoises, and turtles - and I like spiders as long as they don't jump on me. I especially am intrigued by Tarantulas. I had a friend when I was a kid, who had a pet Tarantula.

Miss Buster (RIP)

I prefer my pets to have fluffy fur and hair. Gosh, I miss this cat - It's been about 3 years now. She was the sweetest cat ever.

Saturday morning we went over to see a Marine Corps Art Show. That was interesting and there were 2 of them to talk about their painting that depicted scenes from their war experiences.

This week I have 2 special dinners to complete. Today I went out and bought the fixings for Wednesday evening. Probably Friday I will go out and buy the food for Easter. Foodie and Char (my husband's daughter) are the only ones coming for dinner. Navy and his wife will be on vacation.

I'm working the doors at church on Easter Sunday.

Do you all dress up for Easter? I attend a non-denominational church or as my Pastor calls us, "a Mutt church" where we have recovering people from all denominations. It's laid back - and I prefer that. It's fine too if you want to get all dressed up - no one really cares one way or the other. Many of the older seniors like to dress up in their Easter Best with even a hat. I don't dress like a slob - I just am casual.

I didn't come from a church family. We were secular - but my mom always wanted to have us dress up - just to take a photo of us with our Easter Baskets. We never went to church as a family. The first time I sat next to my parents at church was on an Easter Sunday when Michael and Foodie were baptized in the San Francisco Bay. Mom sat there the whole time, feeling defensive - her body language said it all and she wouldn't attend the potluck we had at our house. They came later when most everyone had left. My dad wasn't that way but he succumbed to my mom. Dad was brought up as a Methodist - for a couple of generations back. He knew scripture and often quoted it to me. When he was in the Korean War he was in Seattle for a stopover and Billy Graham Crusade was in town and he went up after the invitation. Mom was always stubborn.

Whoa I got a bit carried away with that, didn't I? I will finish it off by saying, I did have 2 grandmothers who wrote letters to me and sent me things - sowing the seed and praying for us. It may have taken a few YEARS and they were already passed, their prayers were answered - at least with me.

Okay, that's enough down memory lane -

Hope you all have a great day/afternoon or evening.

Debby

  1. I haven't received that message but on some blogs won't show my name in the comment as block. I have to refresh to get my name to show and then occasionally, when I hit to publish button, the little wheel will cycle and it won't publish. Again, I have to refresh - I've learned to copy and paste my comment unless I want to re-write it. Very annoying.
I did go to church as a child, at least when I wasn't hiding from my mom in the chicken house. As a teen, I told her I would go through with confirmation if she'd leave my younger siblings alone. She did and I did. At one time I enjoyed church services, but after a few horrible experiences, I gave it up. Your mother's posture in church would be me now.
Have a great week and enjoy your special meals.

    1. Yeah I had a couple of experiences when I was visiting with a friend as a teen - that left a sour taste for me and then my male cousin was molested by a Priest and that really upset me, when I was young. Especially when his own parents didn't believe him. I'll admit it takes time and effort to find a good church these days.

  2. I only use my laptop when I blog, so not sure. I grew up going to church weekly. Nowadays I hardly go but still believe. Janice

    1. I really enjoyed sitting at home during the pandemic and watching my church on you tube. BUt then I wanted to get back to normal - I'm glad I did but I still have times, when I tell the husband to go without me and that I will watch it from home.

  3. How interesting about your family and it's amazing how different religions work in our lives. We attend a non-denominational church, too. I have a convoluted religious background but finally made peace with it. lol. I hate when I can't post from my phone so I usually use my laptop. Have a wonderful Easter. xo Diana

  4. I can't comment on my phone either.

We are now a family of three. I hope for us to do something for Easter. I had planned to go the Methodist church in town. However, I will wait until after Easter. Easter is so crowded and I hate to add to that crowd.

    1. I'm sorry Ann, I know your sweet Mama passed but who else? I hear you about Easter. The parking lot will be full and the service will be packed.

  5. Yes, about half of the blogs I read have the same lengthy path to posting a comment, and today yours has the same lengthy path. Maybe my blog does too, though usually lots of people manage to leave comments. I attend a nondenominational church too for the past 12 years and I love going to church and to women's Bible study there. It is like a nurturing family.

    1. Yes a good church should be like a nurturing family.

  6. I am glad that you attend a regular church! I think there are times when we all need the support that other members can give us. Gosh, your computer problems must be so frustrating!! I can't stand snakes! But we do love cats, and have had many. Miss Buster was gorgeous!

  7. Yes, I have difficulty commenting from my phone, so I usually don't even bother and wait until I can do it on my computer. I prefer typing on my computer anyway as opposed to those little keys on the phone. Re: Snakes... I agree with you...they should be left alone in nature and the thoughts of handling them gives me the willies. I don't handle any kind of reptiles. We have a tiny lizard lurking in our closet in our bedroom right now, and we can't get to him to remove him, so he will probably just die in there eventually. It gives me the willy-nillies to walk in there knowing he's in there somewhere, ready to jump on me. So far he's been more afraid of me or has better sense than to do that. LOL. Re: dressing up for Easter...I haven't had a new "Easter Dress" in many years, so I usually pull out one of the few spring dresses I have and wear it on Easter. Most of the time we are more casual at our church as well, but I do wear nice pants (not jeans) and a nice top (not a t-shirt) usually. Actually, on Easter I will be wearing a choir robe for our Easter Cantata, so it really doesn't matter what I am wearing! Regarding your mother/church/etc. I am sorry that your mother was not comfortable in church, for whatever reason, God knows. He looks at the heart and understands what is going on inside of us. I pray she is at peace today. I am glad your grandmothers shared their love of God with you. We attend a Methodist church now, but it is one that will soon be disaffiliated from the UMC and we will become a part of the new Global Methodist Church that is more conservative. Our church is already very conservative and our Pastor preaches from the Bible faithfully. I grew up in the UMC, but when I married we became members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, and my husband became a pastor with that denomination for many years. But after we moved back to Florida there were none of those kinds of churches anywhere close so we eventually moved back into the Methodist church when we moved to this town. We love this particular little church, but probably wouldn't have gone to any other Methodist church if it wasn't as conservative as this one. Okay, that's more info than you wanted to hear, but you know me...I have to explain everything. LOL. I pray you have a blessed and beautiful Holy week and Easter.

    1. We don't have too many Methodist churches around here. Yeah I heard about the big spilt. I think there are many churches that are doing this as well. We do have a big mega church here - that I do not care for,

  9. Yea, you always have to be signed in in order to comment. So sorry you're having these issues. Like you, I dress casual for church, but I love to see the elderly in my church at the doors all dressed in their finest welcoming people. I appreciate that. That's great that you are greeting people at your church on Easter. Lizards freak me out. I used to see lots of them in my old town. Haven't seen one yet in the mountains. Such a pretty cat yours was, and a nice fur color. That was special that your Dad used to tell you Bible verses often.

    Happy Easter, Debby.

  10. How frustrating with the commenting. I haven't had any problems but I always do blogging and commenting on my desktop.
I always wear a dress to Sunday morning service but not to the other services. Don't wear anything special for Easter. We go to an Independent Baptist church.

  12. I haven't gotten that message, but some blogs it takes twice to post. Not yours though.

Mom and Dad never went to church with us, but my sister and I attended Sunday School. I actually attended until Grade 11 when we moved from Ontario to Saskatchewan. There was the same group of 5 of us from kindergarden until I left. We attended regular school together as well. Three boys and Margaret and I. Loved that class.

    God bless.

  13. Dearest Debby,
Well, I've never left any comments from my iPhone—prefer my MacBook or iMac as I type very fast on the keyboard—ten finger system—blind.
Sure, Easter was also the season to start wearing your new spring/summer clothes to Church! I grew up going to Church daily before school, it got even mentioned at the top on our grade book—any missed days! As far as I know, all of my Grand Parents and Parents went to Church and Mom also told us stories that her Dad walked with them to Church before school started.
Knowing that my siblings don't follow in that pattern—sadly!
But as you said, prayers might one day touch their soul and make them think.
    Big hugs,
    Mariette
